According to YouTube, Playables is a way for the company to help users reduce fatigue when watching videos, when they can choose games to relax. This feature was actually offered as a test for some users before appearing on YouTube Premium.
What's new in this introduction is that users will no longer need a Premium account to enjoy the exciting games on Playables, opening up greater competition in the free-to-play games segment.
YouTube reportedly has big plans for artificial intelligence (AI) in the future as well as increasing the amount of advertising content that appears on its platform. Rolling out free-to-play games could be the company’s best bet for achieving this, with many companies interested in advertising their services within YouTube games.
It’s important to emphasize, though, that this is all speculation at this stage. YouTube itself hasn’t provided any official information yet, so it’s unclear whether the company’s real goal is to make money with Playables.
In case the company rolls out the game for free to all users, it will attract more people to the app, especially since many different exciting games are available on Playables with some popular games like Angry Birds Showdown, Words of Wonders, Cut the Rope …
Google says the Playables catalog currently has more than 75 games, with more exciting games planned to be added in the future.
