Yen Bai province has made efforts to implement trade promotion activities to promote and enhance OCOP products, connect products with domestic and international consumers, contribute to promoting rural economic development and improving the quality of OCOP products.

In 2024, Yen Bai province recognized and granted certificates to 67 new OCOP products, reaching 223.3% of the assigned target; by the end of 2024, certificates had been granted to 282 OCOP products, of which 29 products achieved 4 stars and 253 products achieved 3 stars.
The products belong to 6 groups of industries: food, handicrafts and decoration, herbs, beverages, rural tourism services and sales, and ornamental plants. The products are not only diverse in design and packaging but also meet standards of quality, labels and traceability. Yen Bai's OCOP products harmoniously combine regional cultural values and local production advantages. To improve consumption efficiency, the province has focused on building a network of product introduction and sales points and regularly organized promotional and trading activities.
The Department of Industry and Trade has supported enterprises and cooperatives to expand their consumption markets in direct and online forms. In particular, the Department has organized exhibition and introduction booths of the province to participate in 4 fairs in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Dien Bien Province, Binh Dinh Province; connected and supported enterprises to participate in 9 fairs and exhibitions held in provinces and cities; participated in 4 trade connection conferences; organized a conference to support the promotion of OCOP product consumption in Yen Bai province through the e-commerce platform buudien.vn in 2024.
Organizing a conference to deploy an ecosystem to take advantage of FTAs, support production, processing and consumption of cinnamon products, attracting more than 70 enterprises and cinnamon growing households from Van Yen, Tran Yen and Van Chan districts. In addition, functional sectors have promoted training activities for enterprises and cooperatives on product promotion skills, improving service quality and building brands.
The Department of Industry and Trade continuously updates product information on the e-commerce platform at www.sctyenbai.com; supports businesses to do business on platforms such as Shopee, Sendo, Lazada. In particular, the province has created QR-Code for OCOP products and organized training courses on business skills on digital platforms, helping businesses adapt and develop in the digital environment. To date, dozens of businesses and cooperatives have been supported to participate in major e-commerce platforms, expand their distribution networks and improve their competitiveness.
Mr. Phan Nhu Vien - Director of Bao Hung High Quality Green Tea Production Cooperative, Tran Yen District said: "The cooperative currently has 3 types of tea products with a total area of about 63 hectares, with a harvest output of about 20 tons/year. Participating in and achieving OCOP product certification has contributed to improving the quality and value of the products. In particular, thanks to trade promotion activities and support from the province, we have effectively promoted our products to domestic and foreign businesses and consumers."
In addition, many other cooperatives have also recorded positive results from trade promotion activities for OCOP products. Many products such as: Suoi Giang Shan Tuyet tea, Muong Lo Seng Cu rice, Tu Le sticky rice, Tran Yen Bat Tien tea, Gioi Phien vermicelli... have become famous brands, not only consumed strongly domestically but also starting to approach international markets. Yen Bai will continue to focus on implementing trade promotion, e-commerce, and digital transformation strategies to optimize business efficiency.
At the same time, improving product quality, meeting diverse consumer needs, and expanding cooperative relationships with large enterprises will continue to be promoted. The province also aims for sustainable development by promoting clean production, protecting the environment, and preserving indigenous cultural values in each OCOP product. With these long-term strategies, Yen Bai expects that OCOP products will not only increase the value of agricultural products but also build a strong brand, contributing to the sustainable development of the rural economy, and raising the province's position on the national and international economic map.
