Thanh Hoa has 212 enterprises participating in exports in various industries and fields such as footwear, garments, agricultural products, construction materials, etc. Export activities in the province have encountered certain difficulties in recent times due to high prices of input materials and transportation costs. However, export enterprises in the province have proactively restructured, innovated technology, improved productivity, product quality and sought new markets. As a result, in the first quarter of 2024, the export activities of enterprises in the province recorded strong growth with an estimated export value of more than 1.5 billion USD, up 60.5% over the same period and equal to 26.3% compared to the annual plan. Exports by informal channels and enterprises outside the province are estimated at 13.1 million USD, up 23.4% over the same period and equal to 21.9% of the plan. Many export items have had good growth such as footwear, garments, paving stones, wood chips...
According to the Department of Industry and Trade, exports in the first 3 months of 2024 showed signs of recovery compared to the same period last year. However, many of the province's key export items such as textiles, footwear, wooden furniture, seafood, etc. exported to the European Union (EU), Canada, and the US are forecast to face difficulties due to the tension of the war in the Red Sea, causing shipping costs to increase by 80% to 300% compared to December 2023. Therefore, in order to continue to maintain growth momentum, according to the Department of Industry and Trade, in the coming time, it will continue to strengthen support for businesses to promote the search, expansion, diversification and unblocking of the province's export commodity markets. Continue to organize conferences to disseminate knowledge about FTAs, support businesses to work with units of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and trade counselors to learn about export market information.
