Attending the ceremony were Vietnamese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Sweden (concurrently serving in the Republic of Latvia) Tran Van Tuan and his wife, on the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs side, there was Ms. Camilla Mellander - Director General of Trade Policy, former Swedish Ambassador to Vietnam, Ambassadors of ASEAN countries in Sweden, some local friends and more than 100 people representing the Vietnamese community in Sweden and Latvia.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Tran Van Tuan sent New Year greetings and informed the community about Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements in 2024.
In 2024, the two countries celebrated the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, many important events took place in the capital and across the two countries' localities, especially the high-level visit of Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan to Sweden in November 2024 and 23 other working delegations from ministries, branches and localities in the country visited to work, exchange experiences and promote cooperation.
The above visits have contributed to further tightening the close and trusting relationship between the leaders and people of the two countries in all fields. Recalling the proud achievements of the bilateral relationship, the Ambassador affirmed that he will focus on promoting the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Sweden in many fields, including studying and proposing the possibility of upgrading the partnership between the two countries.
Ambassador Tran Van Tuan also highly appreciated the contributions of more than 22,000 overseas Vietnamese in Sweden and Latvia to both Vietnam and the two host countries in many fields, especially in knowledge, trade and investment, with the hope that in the new year of At Ty 2025, the Vietnamese community in Sweden and Latvia will continue to maintain the spirit of solidarity, mutual love, promote the good values of the nation and preserve and develop the Vietnamese language. The Ambassador affirmed that the Embassy will always be a common home, a solid bridge, accompanying the community in all activities and efforts to build an increasingly close-knit and developing Vietnamese community in Sweden and Latvia.
2025 is an important year of special significance to the Vietnamese people, marking the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday, the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country and the 50th anniversary of national reunification, the final year that determines the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, and is also a pivotal year entering the era of national development. Vietnam is standing at a new historical starting point, posing new tasks for the country and each individual Vietnamese.
Representatives of the Vietnamese community in Sweden and Latvia expressed their joy at attending the community Tet organized by the Vietnamese Embassy, emphasizing that this is one of the annual activities that the community looks forward to to exchange, share feelings, and turn to their roots and homeland every time Tet comes and spring comes.
Delegates attending the program enjoyed special art performances by artists in the community as well as traditional dishes with strong Vietnamese flavors.
