Quang Ninh medicinal herbs reach national level

Golden flower tea is a precious plant grown under the forest canopy, known as the "queen of teas" because of its outstanding medicinal values. This type of tea has a shimmering golden color, pure aroma and characteristic light sweetness.

According to scientific research, golden flower tea contains active ingredients that can help prevent cancer, stabilize blood pressure, reduce cholesterol and strengthen the immune system.

In Ba Che, where the soil and climate conditions are special, yellow flower tea grows strongly and produces good quality. Thanks to the mountainous terrain, rich vegetation and sustainable farming methods, the people of Ba Che have created quintessential tea buds, preserving the natural value.

The "One Commune One Product" (OCOP) program is an important driving force to help local specialties reach further. According to Decision No. 377/QD-BNN-VPĐP signed on January 17, 2025 by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Thanh Nam, in the 2024 OCOP product evaluation and classification, Ba Che golden flower tea of ​​Dap Thanh Forestry Trading Joint Stock Company (Ba Che district) was listed in the list of 28 products meeting national 5-star standards.

The fact that Ba Che golden flower tea is ranked as a 5-star OCOP at the national level is the clearest proof of the superior quality of this product. This is the result of many years of efforts by local authorities and cooperatives in increasing commercial value and perfecting the production process according to international standards.

To achieve this certification, the product must meet many strict criteria, from clean raw materials, safe processing procedures, standard packaging and design to economic efficiency and export potential. Thanks to the support from the Quang Ninh provincial government, businesses and cooperatives have continuously improved, making Ba Che yellow flower tea a key product that can compete in the international market.

Before being certified as a 5-star OCOP, Ba Che yellow flower tea had already affirmed its value with a price ranging from 12-15 million VND/kg of dried flowers. This is a high price compared to many other types of tea, reflecting the special value of this product. Currently, the entire Ba Che district has about 150 hectares of yellow flower tea, with an output of 17 tons of flowers and fresh tea leaves each year.

In addition to its economic value, yellow flower tea also creates jobs and stable income for hundreds of local workers. Tea growing cooperatives not only help develop the economy but also preserve rare plant varieties and maintain a sustainable ecosystem.

Mr. Khieu Anh Tu, Vice Chairman of Ba Che District People's Committee, said that the local government has proactively built a development strategy, expanded the planting area, supported people to improve product quality and invested in product design.

In addition, Ba Che also promotes the golden flower tea brand on media, fairs, e-commerce platforms and through the annual golden flower tea festival, attracting the attention of many consumers and potential partners.

With the 5-star OCOP certification, Ba Che golden flower tea has the opportunity to expand its market, especially exporting to countries such as Japan, Korea, China and Europe, where high-end medicinal tea products are very popular. To take advantage of the opportunity from the national 5-star OCOP certification, cooperatives and businesses need to promote the application of technology in processing and improve product quality.

The fact that Ba Che golden flower tea has achieved the 5-star OCOP certification is not only the pride of Quang Ninh but also opens up many development opportunities for the Vietnamese medicinal industry. With its existing potential, thorough investment and sustainable development strategy, Ba Che golden flower tea can absolutely go further, becoming a national product of international stature.
