Vinh City Party Secretary Phan Duc Dong delivered a speech at the ceremony, affirming that Vinh City is a land of "spiritual land and talented people", rich in historical, cultural and revolutionary traditions.
In October 1788, Emperor Quang Trung chose this land to build the capital city of Phuong Hoang Trung Do. On October 10, 1963, the Government Council issued Decision No. 148/CP to establish Vinh city.
After 60 years of construction and development, Vinh city has achieved many valuable and proud achievements, becoming one of the cities with the fastest and most sustainable development in the country.
In 2022, the economic growth rate will reach 9.02%; per capita income will reach 120 million VND, 2.37 times higher than the province's average.
The Vinh City Party Secretary affirmed the aspiration and determination associated with specific key tasks of the Party Committee, government and people to build Vinh city to soon become the economic and cultural center of the North Central region in the spirit of Resolution No. 39-NQ/TW dated July 19, 2023 of the Politburo on building and developing Nghe An province to 2030, with a vision to 2045.
At the ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue awarded the Second Class Independence Medal, presented flowers, and presented a souvenir photo "President Ho Chi Minh visiting the construction site of Vinh Power Plant (June 1957)" to the Party Committee, government, and people of Vinh city.
The National Assembly Chairman delivered a congratulatory speech, acknowledging and praising the proud achievements and contributions of the Party Committee, government and people of Vinh city over the past 60 years; at the same time, orienting and pointing out major tasks and key solutions to develop Vinh city into a modern, civilized, and worthy urban area in the whole country; commensurate with the historical tradition and position of the land of "spiritual land and talented people".
On this occasion, the delegation of the National Assembly Chairman mobilized support of 3 billion VND to give to the people of the districts: Quy Chau, Que Phong, Ky Son, each district 1 billion VND to contribute to overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.
The ceremony ended with the art program "Thanh Vinh spreads the Phoenix's wings" at the anniversary ceremony and a 15-minute fireworks display.
