Awarding certificate of ranking of provincial historical and cultural relic of Sau communal house
The old Sau Communal House was located on a high mound in the middle of the field, with an area of several thousand square meters, facing the Southeast. Initially, the Communal House was built with bamboo, thatch, and thatched roof. After a period of rain and sun, the ancient Communal House was damaged, and the people contributed their efforts and money to rebuild the Communal House, which is very large, beautiful, and spacious, made of four-piece wood in the shape of the letter "J", including the Front Court and the Back Palace. Sau Communal House existed until 1950, when the French colonialists swept through this area, the Communal House was burned down, leaving only the foundation and stone pillars. All the worshiping objects in the Communal House were lost and misplaced, and cultural and religious activities were stopped from then on. After many renovations with the people's contributions, in 2008 the Communal House was rebuilt as it is today.
The communal house is a place to worship the Three Saints of Tan Vien Son. According to the Divine Relic - Divine Decree kept at the Institute of Social Sciences - Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, the earliest decree was issued in the second year of Dong Khanh (1887), naming the deity worshiped at the relic as the Three Saints of Tan Vien Son. In which, Tan Vien Son is the leading deity of the "Four Immortals" in the beliefs of the Vietnamese people, representing the great creativity of the Vietnamese people in fighting against natural disasters and floods to protect crops and bring a prosperous life to the people. With the great contributions of the Three Saints of Tan Vien Son, people in many parts of our country, including Sau village, have honored them as the village's Thanh Hoang and worshiped them and offered incense in the communal house.
The Sau Communal House Festival is held once a year at the Communal House on the 5th day of the first lunar month. This is the most important cultural and religious event organized on a large scale, systematically with the participation of the entire community with many unique rituals and practices. Through the festival at the relic, people want to express their gratitude, remembrance, and gratitude for the merits of the gods towards the village community. The preservation and promotion of the values of tangible and intangible cultural heritage at Sau Communal House is not only an opportunity for people to convey their feelings, ethics and aspirations to each other, but also an opportunity for people to reconcile with the past and the present. Today, the traditional customs and festivals of Sau Communal House are precious intangible cultural heritages that need to continue to be cared for, preserved, exploited and promoted.
