On January 6, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen gave a speech at the conference to review the implementation of socio-economic development tasks in 2023 and deploy tasks in 2024.

Secretary Nguyen Van Nen reviewed the outstanding results and bright spots in Ho Chi Minh City's socio-economic recovery, and affirmed that this is a relatively positive picture, creating a foundation for Ho Chi Minh City to enter 2024.

At the same time, Secretary Nguyen Van Nen also pointed out the opportunities that Ho Chi Minh City will grasp and take advantage of for development in the coming time, including Resolution 98 of the National Assembly that is being implemented into life.

"The Central Government has issued many reasonable decisions, policies and solutions that have been well received by people and businesses, investors, and some markets have begun to recover, especially the real estate market," Mr. Nen commented.

Secretary Nguyen Van Nen emphasized that in the coming time, the entire political system of Ho Chi Minh City needs to maximize its advantages and potentials, effectively implement the theme of Ho Chi Minh City in 2024; bring resolutions into life in a practical way, no form and work has any value.

Along with that, Ho Chi Minh City focuses on building and implementing synchronous and unified digital transformation solutions to build a digital government. The locality is currently reactivating markets, including the real estate market.

This is a sensitive and complex market, and only when the real estate market is in crisis can we see its full value to the economy. Therefore, Ho Chi Minh City must be responsible for implementing policies and solutions from the Central Government and the city to help this market recover.

Event - Ho Chi Minh City Secretary: Overcoming 'headwinds' to complete economic targets

On January 6, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee held a conference to review the implementation of socio-economic development tasks in 2023 and to disseminate and deploy tasks in 2024.

Regarding public investment, Mr. Nen emphasized responsibility, especially the responsibility of the leader: "The important thing about public investment is to closely monitor, prepare a close plan, and monitor to promptly adjust, flexibly change, and transfer... because this is one of the very important driving forces."

In the cultural field, Ho Chi Minh City must develop comprehensively and in harmony with the economic field; at the same time, pay attention to building and improving the quality of life and cultural enjoyment of the people.

Regarding education, training and healthcare, Mr. Nen requested that Ho Chi Minh City pay attention to implementing well the programs and projects, including taking care of people's health; and have scenarios to respond to epidemics.

Referring to the supervision of people and businesses over the political system and government, the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee affirmed that the Central Government and the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee have issued many policies for people and businesses to supervise and provide information. In particular, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee has issued Regulation 1629 on purchasing and processing information to serve the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity.

"Up to now, the implementation of Regulation 1629 has shown positive signs, with people coming forward to provide information. Currently, public opinion has been informed that some places are waiting, relying, avoiding, and are being verified to clarify. If there is any truth, it will be handled depending on the level," Secretary Nguyen Van Nen pointed out.

Secretary Nguyen Van Nen emphasized the need to tighten discipline, improve public ethics, promote decentralization, and individualize responsibilities, along with strengthening inspection, supervision, and control of power.

Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City focuses on implementing Conclusion 14 of the Politburo on the policy of encouraging and protecting dynamic and creative cadres for the common good.

"HCMC will increase strict, accurate and timely rewards and punishments in the spirit of "every cadre, civil servant, and public employee, especially the leader, must do the right thing and do well the assigned work". Anyone who makes a mistake or has an objective risk will be examined by the HCMC leadership and will take responsibility. Anyone who, for personal motives, profiteering, corruption or bribery, must take personal responsibility as has happened in the past", Mr. Nen emphasized.

According to the Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City, the tasks in 2024 are no easier than in 2023. Ho Chi Minh City is still going uphill, "going against the wind, swimming against the current", so it requires the whole city to continue to promote internal strength, solidarity, join hands, and be unanimous to complete the goals and tasks in 2024.
