Open 7 days, received 10 fake calls
Reporting to Tuoi Tre Online , Ms. LTMH (owner of a vegetarian restaurant in Hoa Xuan ward, Cam Le district, Da Nang) said that her restaurant had only been open for a few days and had continuously received many scam calls.
The number of calls is even more than the number of days the shop is open.
Ms. H. said that last December, she opened a vegetarian restaurant and advertised it on several social networking sites. Just a few days later, she began receiving calls from people pretending to be tax officials.
"This person claimed to be from the Cam Le - Hoa Vang Regional Tax Department, called to invite me to a training course on tax procedures to 'declare taxes', 'refund taxes' and enjoy the incentive of 'tax exemption for the first three years'," Ms. H. said.
Busy because the restaurant just opened, Ms. H. made an appointment to come and declare and train another time.
However, this person suggested that if she did not have time, she could receive the training materials by mail.
"I didn't expect that the next day someone would deliver the book. The store staff didn't know, and gave me money to buy the book and the shipping fee was 500,000 VND," Ms. H. was upset.
The very next day, Ms. H. continued to receive a call from another person, also claiming to be a tax officer, continuing to invite her to "tax declaration training".
At this point, she realized she had been scammed so she stopped answering the calls.
Not only that, in the following days, Ms. H. continued to receive many calls impersonating the Food Safety Management Board of Da Nang City, asking her to participate in "professional training".
This group of scammers also uses the trick of "learning through books, online instructions" and then post-checking to issue certificates.
"My shop has only been open for a week and has already received more than 10 scam calls like this. I suspect my personal information has been leaked while running online ads on social networks," Ms. H. worriedly said.

Warnings but still many people get scammed
Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , the leader of the Taxpayer Support and Propaganda Department, Da Nang City Tax Department, affirmed that this is a fraudulent behavior that has been warned about many times.
Accordingly, the subjects impersonated tax officials, called businesses and business households, announced a new tax policy training session and promised tax exemption and reduction support.
Taking advantage of the busy psychology of business people, they lured victims to buy training materials by mail with the promise of "a 50% refund when going to the tax office".
"The tax authority has repeatedly asked businesses and business households to be vigilant and not to follow instructions from strange calls.
However, many people are still being cheated, especially small businesses," said the leader of the Taxpayer Support and Propaganda Department.
This person emphasized that if the tax authority organizes training or disseminates new policies, invitations will be sent directly to each taxpayer.
All relevant information is available to the tax authorities and no fees are charged.
