In fact, problems with student kitchens and meals have occurred in many places. But most of the incidents are related to food safety and hygiene, processing procedures, and reducing food portions.

Feeding students "leftover rice and soup" is something that is rarely discovered.

Looking back at what happened at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the act of collecting leftover rice and soup was done openly as a matter of course. What is even more frightening is that this dishonest act was assigned to students to do for their friends.

From the report on the program "Moving 24" - Vietnam Television, there were students who did "leftover rice and soup" work and said they were forced to do it, were asked to do it even though they thought it was not right.

The story of "leftover rice and soup" has reached the minimum limit that people with conscience should not cross. That is why when the incident was exposed, many people were shocked and thought that this was a "horrible" incident.

Although there have been previous incidents of reduced rations, food poisoning has affected more people than the incident at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

Many people have been confused and asked how long the leftover rice and soup scandal has existed? During the time it has existed, where has the university's supervisory role been?

If this happens at a prestigious school, will this happen at other universities and schools at other levels?

Worry, confusion, and anxiety are psychological reactions that show a belief in what is right and, more importantly, a shaken conscience.

Therefore, although Hanoi University of Science and Technology has terminated the contract with the catering unit, transferred students to another cafeteria and required staff and lecturers to eat with students, the case has not yet been closed.

On the part of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, there are still things to do such as reviewing to determine the responsibilities of those involved in the meals of more than 2,000 students, related to the contract with the meal supplier and the monitoring, detection, and handling processes...

During the press conference, the university’s leadership also said that no student had directly reported the situation to the school. Instead, they chose a media outlet to express their frustration.

This is also an issue that requires consideration of the school's responsibility for not creating trust, closeness, and intimacy so that students are willing to openly share unstable issues.

And perhaps the story of Hanoi University of Science and Technology is not just a problem of this training institution but a warning, a lesson for other training institutions and other educational service providers.

Even though some places may not be perfect in serving students, please do not easily cross the minimum boundary of conscience.
