(Dan Tri) - To welcome the Lunar New Year 2025, pipa artist Vu Dieu Thao released more than 30 solo and ensemble MVs with many different musical colors. She shared that she had devoted nearly 4 months of effort to working with musicians.
In more than 30 MVs introduced by Vu Dieu Thao on this occasion, there are ancient folk melodies that have been renewed such as: Co Doi Thuong Ngan, Dao Lieu, Tu Quy, Con Duyen... or familiar old songs such as: Don Xuan Nay Nho Xuan Xua, Cau Chuyen Dau Nam... and songs that are of interest and loved by young people such as: Nam Qua Ta Dau Gi, Bao Gio Lai Chong...
The female pipa artist confided that making 30 MVs was truly a challenge. "I put in all my effort, literally as tense as a guitar string. For nearly 4 months, I had almost no days off, worked continuously with musicians and recorded from early morning to late at night," Vu Dieu Thao shared.
Although it was hard, Dieu Thao said that the process of filming the MVs was relatively smooth, despite the tight schedule. Partly because the female artist had envisioned and prepared very carefully for the performance and filming, on the other hand, because the crew was experienced, the work was done quickly and smoothly.
Notably, the song " Co Doi Thuong Ngan" which is familiar with the sound of the moon lute was changed by Dieu Thao to play the pipa.
Dieu Thao said that at first she was a bit hesitant because this song was familiar with the sound of the moon lute. But she loved the song so much and had "memorized" the melody so she was determined to choose it.
She shared: "The moon lute and the pipa have many similarities. Even when playing them, the listener must be very attentive to distinguish the sounds. From that similarity, along with my love for Vietnamese folk music, I decided to try my hand at Co Doi Thuong Ngan."
After receiving the audience's reception, Dieu Thao expressed her happiness and said she will continue to explore and discover special things in Vietnamese folk music.
As Tet approaches, Vu Dieu Thao shared that, for her, Tet is the last days of the year when she is busy with work and family. This is also an opportunity to summarize a year of exciting and tireless activities.
"Tet is a regular cycle to stop for a beat, to start a new beginning. Tet is an opportunity to return home and be with loved ones after a busy, hard year, to make up for love and longing, to start a new year full of energy and creativity," said Dieu Thao.
According to Dieu Thao, she loves traditional customs, simple beauty and rustic, simple things. Tet is a time to leisurely take care of cleaning and decorating the house, preparing the family altar, visiting graves at the end of the year, worshiping Ong Cong Ong Tao, preparing ingredients to make Tet dishes such as banh chung, pickled onions, pickled onions, bamboo shoots, vermicelli, and braised meat...
"Thao often arranges to go to the Tet flower market to buy peach blossoms and a small apricot tree because she really likes these flowers. I also buy a kumquat tree and orchids," she revealed.
The year 2024 marked 20 years of Vu Dieu Thao's association with the Vietnam National Academy of Music as a pipa teacher. To celebrate this important milestone, Dieu Thao had many exciting activities, including the album Bui Chalk , which brought together nearly 100 pipa artists and folk music artists from many generations.
Sharing her wishes for the new year, Dieu Thao said: "In addition to wishing for health and peace for myself and my family, I hope to always maintain my love and passion for the pipa so that I can produce many quality musical products and accompany generations of students."
Vu Dieu Thao (born 1986) used to be a familiar face to television audiences through the films: The Sky Ahead, When the Birds Return, Early Sunshine...
Currently, Dieu Thao is not acting. She focuses entirely on music and is loved by many audiences.
Vu Dieu Thao is a Master majoring in pipa, a lecturer in the Faculty of Traditional Music, Vietnam National Academy of Music and an MC for several TV channels.
