The selected products clearly demonstrate the traditional cultural values of Hanoi. The creativity of each product is created on the basis of the quintessence of each long-standing traditional handicraft. New materials have been harmoniously, delicately and uniquely integrated into each product by artisans and skilled workers. The creative combination of many types of materials on the same product, the application of science and technology in design and manufacturing have created product models and works that both have a "modern" breath and high artistic and aesthetic value. Unique patterns, motifs, shapes and colors create rich diversity and can be applied for many purposes.
The contest's jury worked seriously, agreed on the results, reported to the Department of Industry and Trade to the City People's Committee to recognize 90 products that won the contest with 6 first prizes, 18 second prizes, 24 third prizes, 42 consolation prizes for 6 groups of handicraft products.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Mr. Hoang Minh Lam - Director of the Center for Industrial Promotion and Industrial Development Consulting (Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade) - said that Hanoi currently has 290 artisans who have been awarded titles, mainly in crafts such as ceramics, silk weaving, rattan and bamboo weaving, gold, silver, copper and metal, wooden handicrafts, flower art, lacquer, mother-of-pearl inlay, and embroidery; of which, there are 13 artisans honored by the State with the title of "People's Artisan" and 42 artisans awarded the title of "Excellent Artisan" by the State and thousands of skilled workers.
Hanoi's handicrafts have been promoting great traditional values, creating a unique cultural identity of Thang Long - Hanoi. Handicraft products promote the increase in the proportion of industrial production value, small-scale industry and services, creating jobs for suburban workers, contributing to the sustainable socio-economic development of the capital.
However, according to current assessment, Hanoi's handicraft industry has not yet fully exploited its potential and strengths, the products produced have not yet best met market requirements, and are not yet competitive compared to similar products from countries in the region such as China, India, Philippines, etc.
There are many reasons for this situation, one of the main reasons is the slow innovation of product designs such as: Some new design products lack creativity, copy existing models on the market or follow customer-ordered models, design ideas do not come from the needs of each market. Many artisans and skilled workers create beautiful designs but lack commercial value, do not suit customer tastes or are difficult to produce to meet large orders, and there are also simple products with low value.
Therefore, supporting organizations and individuals to develop creative ideas and design new handicraft products with economic, technical and aesthetic value to meet and suit the needs and tastes of customers. Promoting the movement of designing and creating handicraft products, in order to support enterprises and rural industrial production facilities in the Hanoi handicraft industry to diversify product designs, meet market demand and improve competitiveness in international economic integration is very important.

Hanoi Capital - the cradle of more than 1,350 craft villages and villages with crafts, converging 47/52 crafts in the total number of traditional crafts of the country. Of which, there are 334 craft villages, traditional crafts and traditional crafts recognized by the City People's Committee in the area of 25 districts, towns.
The total annual revenue of 322 craft villages, traditional craft villages and villages with above-mentioned craft villages reached over 22,000 billion VND. Craft villages have seen growth in revenue, production value and export value over the years, of which, there are about 100 craft villages with revenue of 10-20 billion VND/year, nearly 70 craft villages with revenue of 20-50 billion VND/year and about 20 craft villages with revenue of over 50 billion VND/year, contributing significantly to the local budget.
In recent years, although the production and business activities of handicraft villages have developed with many efforts, they are facing competition in the market. Especially the world market is increasingly fierce.
The award ceremony will be a place to recognize and honor the achievements of the winning artisans, organizations and individuals. The organizers hope that honoring handicraft products will create a playground and encourage artisans and skilled workers to develop new ideas, produce works that promote the cultural and historical values of the craft village, products that are creative, technical, artistic, highly applicable and meet the needs of the domestic market and international integration. Create an environment for authors to participate in exchanges, learn from experiences, connect to promote trade, expand the consumer market, and increase product value.
