On July 15, Vietnam's VinFast Auto Company officially held a groundbreaking ceremony for the electric vehicle assembly plant project in Subang city, West Java, Indonesia.
The construction of a new factory in the most potential electric vehicle market in Southeast Asia will bring job opportunities to local workers; at the same time, it affirms VinFast's strong determination in its expansion strategy in the regional market and its commitment to promoting the Indonesian electric vehicle industry.
With an initial investment capital of about 200 million USD, the VinFast factory in Indonesia has an expected capacity of 50,000 vehicles/year and includes main items such as body shop, assembly shop, paint shop, testing area...
The factory is expected to be operational from the fourth quarter of 2025 and will produce the VF3, VF5, VF6 and VF7 right-hand drive models for the Indonesian market.
VinFast electric vehicle assembly plant is built in Subang, Indonesia's new industrial hub.
Speaking at the ceremony, General H. Moeldoko, Chief of Staff of the Indonesian President, said that the VinFast factory in Subang not only has a positive impact on the local economy but also creates many new job opportunities and improves community life.

It is expected to create thousands of job opportunities for local people, increase the proportion of skilled labor, strongly contribute to the economic and social development of local communities as well as make an important contribution to promoting green transportation in Indonesia.
Mr. Moeldoko emphasized that the Indonesian government always encourages and supports foreign investment projects, especially in the automotive industry. He said: “We believe that the presence of VinFast will bring much-needed technological innovation and knowledge transfer to enhance the competitiveness of the national automotive industry."
Mr. Temmy Wiradjaja, General Director of VinFast Indonesia, said: “Just a few months after officially launching the brand in the market, the groundbreaking event of the factory affirms VinFast's strategy of expanding and enhancing its competitiveness in the Indonesian market, marking an important milestone in the strategy of expanding and conquering the region's leading potential electric vehicle market.
