(Dan Tri) - Indonesia U20 was eliminated early from the U20 Asian Cup after only two losses. Dissatisfied with this result, the media of the archipelago country pointed out the mistakes of the Indonesian Football Federation.
Last night (February 16), U20 Indonesia lost 1-3 to Uzbekistan. This was the second consecutive defeat for the young team of the archipelago country at the 2025 U20 Asian Cup. Previously, on February 13, U20 Indonesia lost 0-3 to Iran.

The two losses above caused coach Indra Sjafri's team to be eliminated early from the 2025 AFC U20 Championship, even though Indonesia U20 had previously set a target of reaching the final round of this year's U20 World Cup.
Indonesian newspaper Suara wrote: "The Indonesian U20 team is forced to accept the fact that they have been eliminated from the U20 Asian tournament. They were eliminated right from the group stage."
"This defeat of the team under coach Indra Sjafri immediately caused strong reactions from Indonesian football fans," Suara added.
What is even more noteworthy is that after the failure of the Indonesian U20 team, the Indonesian media had more reason to mention coach Shin Tae Yong (Korean), who was also the coach of the Indonesian U20 team during his time working in the Indonesian archipelago.
Indonesian media criticized PSSI for firing coach Shin Tae Yong (Photo: Instagram Erick Thohir).
Suara newspaper shared: "Coach Indra Sjafri's team was eliminated, coach Shin Tae Yong was praised. Some people even expressed the opinion that U20 Indonesia deserved to be eliminated because coach Shin Tae Yong was fired."
"Moreover, some other criticisms were even more severe, raising questions about the use of funds for the Indonesian U20 team at the Asian tournament. This team trained for months before the tournament, but did not bring results commensurate with the investment," the newspaper of the archipelago country added.
When mentioning coach Shin Tae Yong, the Indonesian media does not forget to mention the role of the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI). Because, keeping or firing coach Shin Tae Yong is the decision of PSSI. The strategic planning for Indonesian football also belongs to PSSI.
Suara newspaper wrote: "With increasing pressure from public opinion, PSSI is facing a huge demand to immediately conduct a comprehensive assessment of the achievements of the Indonesian U20 team."
"Once PSSI does this, they must also consider the responsibility and future of coach Indra Sjafri, as the technical controller of the Indonesian U20 team at the Asian tournament," Suara emphasized.
