On June 8, Vietnamese swimmers excellently brought home 7 more medals, including 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 1 bronze medal.
In the men's events, athlete Danh Hoa continued to have outstanding achievements in the 100m freestyle race in the S4 disability category, winning a gold medal and setting a new record of the ASEAN Para Games (1 minute 36 seconds 23). To date, Danh Hoa is one of the athletes with the highest individual achievements in the Vietnamese swimming team, with 4 gold medals and 3 new records.
In the 50m freestyle event for the S8 disability category, Pham Thanh Dat brought home 1 silver medal, while Tran Van Mom won 1 bronze medal in the 100m freestyle event for the S3 disability category.
In the women's events, "swimmer" Trinh Thi Bich Nhu continued to shine in the 100m freestyle event for the S6 disabled category, breaking her own record of 1 minute 25 seconds 11 with a new record of 1 minute 23 seconds 77, winning the gold medal. Bich Nhu is currently the swimmer with the highest achievement at this congress with a total of 5 gold medals and 3 new records set.
In addition, the Vietnamese swimming team also won 1 gold medal in the 20-point men's 4x50m relay. Thus, at the end of the competition at the Games, the swimming team made a great contribution to the Vietnamese Sports Delegation when winning 27 gold medals, including 6 records of the Games.
The Vietnamese chess team also entered the final day of competition with great determination to achieve the best results in the blitz chess event. Up to now, in chess, the Vietnamese team has won 18 medals, including 5 gold, 7 silver and 6 bronze medals, ranking 3rd in the overall chess team.
Thus, as of 7:00 p.m. on June 8, the Vietnamese disabled sports delegation won 64 gold medals, 56 silver medals, and 74 bronze medals, ranking 3rd.
The Indonesian Paralympic delegation is still leading the overall medal tally with 146 gold medals, 131 silver medals and 88 bronze medals. The Thai delegation is in second place with 120 gold medals, 106 silver medals and 83 bronze medals.
