On the morning of April 7, 15 cannons were installed on the red carpet along the Saigon River (Bach Dang Wharf area). This is one of the highlights of the event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification.
The cannons are located in the park, opposite Nguyen Hue walking street, to ensure clear views and a solemn space, while allowing residents and tourists to visit.
15 105 mm guns, each gun weighs about 4 - 5 tons.
These cannons will fire 21 cannon shots to the Vietnamese National Anthem on the 50th anniversary of national reunification.
The area around the artillery site is carefully fenced off and strictly controlled, ensuring absolute security for the entire preparation process. Currently, people are allowed to take souvenir photos with the artillery but are not allowed to approach or touch the artifacts.
According to technical requirements, the artillery position must be placed on a solid flat surface to create a uniform explosion when fired. A soldier is checking the alignment.
Along with the installation of artillery, auxiliary items such as setting up field tents are being carried out.
As planned, the 50th anniversary of national reunification will take place solemnly with a parade gathering about 13,000 participants, 21 cannon shots to the Vietnamese National Anthem and a welcome flyover by the air force with helicopters, Yak-130, Su-30MK2.
To serve the installation process, 5 routes will be closed to traffic from 9pm to midnight or 3am the following morning, lasting from April 7 to 26. On April 27 and 30, the routes will be restricted to traffic during the day.
