At the reception, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son welcomed President Yamaguchi's visit to Vietnam at a very meaningful time, the year of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations (1973-2023); thanked Mr. Yamaguchi and the Komeito Party for their sentiments and positive contributions to the development of Vietnam-Japan relations over the past years.
Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son expressed his delight at the good, rapid and comprehensive development of the Vietnam-Japan relationship with high political trust; affirmed that Vietnam always considers Japan a reliable, important and long-term partner, and supports Japan in promoting its role in the region and in international forums.
On this occasion, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son asked Mr. Yamaguchi and the Komeito Party to continue to support the promotion of the Vietnam-Japan Extensive Strategic Partnership to a new height, further strengthening political trust through high-level and all-level delegation exchanges, especially in 2023 - the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries; promoting cooperation and exchanges between the Komeito Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam, and exchanges between parliamentarians, especially young parliamentarians and female parliamentarians in the coming time.
Minister Bui Thanh Son also asked Japan to continue supporting Vietnam in the industrialization and modernization process, building an independent and self-reliant economy, creating breakthroughs in infrastructure development in the coming time, hoping that the two countries will strengthen cooperation in the fields of tourism, people-to-people exchange, youth exchange and human resource training; asking Japan to consider simplifying procedures and moving towards visa exemption for Vietnamese citizens entering Japan, creating more favorable conditions for Vietnamese people to work in Japan.
Expressing his joy at visiting Vietnam at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations, President Yamaguchi expressed his impression of Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements in recent times.
Stating that Japan highly appreciates Vietnam's role and position in the region and the world, Mr. Yamaguchi affirmed that he will continue to promote Japanese cooperation, support Vietnam in developing and deepening bilateral relations in all areas, especially in such contents as increasing the exchange of high-level delegations and all levels, promoting local cooperation, training human resources, supporting Vietnam in improving its capacity for law enforcement at sea, responding to natural disasters and piracy.
Appreciating the contributions of the 500,000 Vietnamese community living and studying in Japan, Mr. Yamaguchi affirmed that the Komeito Party always supports creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Japan to live, study and work.
At the meeting, the two sides exchanged opinions on the world and regional situation and issues of mutual concern, including the East Sea issue.
