'Vietnam is a priority partner in Hungary's Look East policy'

(Dan Tri) - The Vice President of the Hungarian National Assembly commented that Vietnam's role and position are increasing in the international arena. "Vietnam has always been a priority partner in Hungary's "Look East" policy," he said.
On the morning of January 19 (local time), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a meeting with Vice President of the Hungarian National Assembly Jakab István in Budapest, Hungary. Mr. Jakab István said that the visit of the head of the Vietnamese Government is an important event, contributing to further strengthening the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries. Assessing Vietnam's increasing role and position in the international arena, Vice President of the National Assembly Jakab István affirmed that Vietnam is always a priority partner in Hungary's "Look East" policy.

Vietnam also always attaches importance to and wishes to strengthen the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Hungary, according to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. The head of the Vietnamese Government asked the Hungarian National Assembly to support the two countries in implementing important cooperation agreements reached during the visit in all areas of politics, economics - trade - investment, education and training, culture, science and technology, labor, etc. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the dynamic development in cooperation between the two National Assemblies in recent times with regular delegation exchanges between the leaders of the National Assembly, the Committees and the two Friendship Parliamentarians' Groups.

The two sides agreed to continue to increase delegation exchanges between the two National Assemblies and promote the bridging role of the Friendship Parliamentarians’ Groups of the two countries, and closely coordinate at inter-parliamentary forums. Emphasizing the importance of economic, trade and investment cooperation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Vice President of the Hungarian National Assembly Jakab István agreed to promote economic cooperation commensurate with the good traditional friendship between the two countries.

Accordingly, the two sides will strengthen cooperation in traditional areas such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, food processing, while enhancing cooperation in new potential areas such as green transformation, digital transformation, circular economy, innovation, etc. On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked the Hungarian National Assembly for being the first parliament in the EU to ratify the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA). He also asked the Hungarian National Assembly to urge the parliaments of the remaining EU countries to soon ratify this Agreement as well as support the EC to soon lift the IUU yellow card for Vietnamese seafood.
