At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to and supports the central role of the United Nations in the global governance system, in order to respond to the current enormous common challenges, and Vietnam is committed to actively contributing to the major priorities of the 78th General Assembly, including consolidating peace through enhancing trust, promoting cooperation, reducing tensions between major countries, promoting solidarity, multilateralism, reforming international financial institutions towards greater fairness, and being determined to realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), for the benefit of the people and leaving no one behind.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that to address current challenges, a global, all-people and comprehensive approach is needed. On that basis, the Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam supports and is determined to implement the SDGs and respond to climate change, including efforts to fulfill commitments to bring net emissions to "zero" by 2050.
In addition, the Prime Minister said that Vietnam has just approved the Power Plan VIII with strong commitments to sustainable energy development and will soon announce the Resource Mobilization Plan to implement the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).

The Prime Minister shared Vietnam's history of overcoming war and difficulties to transform, develop, and eliminate poverty. Therefore, in the context of current instability in food security in the world, Vietnam still ensures rice exports, contributing to stabilizing global food security.
UN General Assembly President Dennis Francis highly appreciated the UN-Vietnam relationship, saying he was impressed by Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements and appreciated Vietnam's active, dynamic role and increasing position, including its participation in UN peacekeeping.
Mr. Dennis Francis said that Vietnam has many achievements in lifting people out of poverty and developing the country, which can be shared with the world, and together promote cooperation in implementing SDGs, responding to climate change, and food security. The President of the General Assembly agreed to cooperate with Vietnam to promote compliance with the UN Charter, international law, and multilateralism.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh respectfully invited Mr. Dennis Francis to visit Vietnam in the near future./.
