Upon hearing the news of the terrorist attack at the Crocus shopping mall in Moscow (Russia) on the evening of March 22 (local time) that left many people dead and injured, on March 23, Acting President Vo Thi Anh Xuan sent a message of condolences to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
On the same day, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son sent a message of condolences to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Pham Thu Hang stated: "We were extremely shocked to receive information about this barbaric terrorist attack and would like to send our deepest condolences to the Government, people of Russia and the families of the victims.
Vietnam strongly condemns terrorist attacks in all forms and firmly believes that the perpetrators will be duly punished."

According to the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia, so far no Vietnamese citizens have been recorded as victims in the incident. Following the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy is urgently coordinating closely with local authorities to closely monitor the situation and prepare necessary protection measures in case any Vietnamese citizens are in trouble.
Updated information from the Russian Investigative Committee on the morning of March 23 said that the death toll in the terrorist attack is now more than 60 people, while at least 145 injured people have been hospitalized. The bodies of the deceased are being examined to determine their identities.
The Russian Investigative Committee said the death toll could rise. A spokesman for the committee said it was too early to say who the attackers were.
On the same day, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said: "The entire international community must condemn this barbaric criminal act. All efforts are being focused on rescuing the injured."
Russian authorities have warned of the risk of fake news about the attack on social media and messaging apps. Russian authorities have also warned of the possibility of cyberattacks and urged citizens to be on maximum alert. Russia has tightened security at airports, transport hubs and the entire Moscow region. All large events across Russia have been cancelled.
Earlier, on the evening of March 22, a group of people entered the concert hall just before the opening of the famous Russian rock band Piknik and opened fire on the crowd. The self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) organization admitted to being behind the incident.
