In 2025, the Mexican Embassy in Vietnam will carry out many activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Mexico (May 19, 1975 - May 19, 2025). The highlight of the series of activities is the exhibition "Journey to Ancient Mexico", scheduled to take place on May 19 in the central area of Hoan Kiem Lake (93 Dinh Tien Hoang, Hanoi). The exhibition will introduce typical antiques, reflecting the cultural and historical depth of ancient Mexican civilization, thereby contributing to enhancing understanding, cultural exchange and strengthening friendship between the people of the two countries.
Ambassador Alejandro Negrín Munoz hopes that the exhibition will attract the attention of Hanoians as well as domestic and foreign tourists. He also expressed his hope that the leaders of the Hanoi People's Committee will support and create favorable conditions for the exhibition to be successful.
The Ambassador also expressed his hope that there will be more opportunities for cooperation with Hanoi in the future. The Ambassador said that the Mexican capital, with a population of about 25 million people, is a large city with a lot of experience in development in areas such as transportation and water management.

Appreciating the Mexican Ambassador’s proposals, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Tran Sy Thanh highly appreciated the initiative to organize the exhibition, affirming that the City will create all favorable conditions for the event to be successfully organized. He also said that Hanoi will accompany and support the organization of other activities implemented by the Mexican Embassy on the occasion of the anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
On the same day, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh received Colombian Ambassador Camila Maria Polo Florez on the occasion of her beginning her term in Vietnam.
Speaking at the reception, Ambassador Camila Maria Polo Florez expressed her impression of a “green – clean – beautiful” Hanoi with good security and her desire to promote experience exchange in the field of environmental protection and sustainable urban development. She said that the Colombian Congress has just passed a new law on environmental protection and green urban landscape development. Colombia is aiming for green growth and regional cooperation to promote sustainable development.
The Ambassador highly appreciated the meeting, considering it an opportunity to open up new cooperation directions between Hanoi and Colombia in the coming time. At the same time, he suggested that Hanoi could receive some green trees from Colombia as a symbol of the friendship between the two countries and localities.
Informing the Ambassador, Chairman Tran Sy Thanh said: Hanoi is a city with a long history and is developing rapidly. In the roadmap to 2045, Hanoi aims to become a modern, smart and environmentally friendly city.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee said that Hanoi is focusing on solving urban challenges such as traffic, governance and environment with many specific solutions including: developing public transport, limiting personal vehicles, switching to clean energy, relocating production facilities and universities out of the inner city, cleaning rivers, and expanding green spaces.
Emphasizing that Hanoi and Colombia have great potential for cooperation in the field of sustainable growth, Chairman Tran Sy Thanh welcomed the promotion of cultural and artistic exchanges and the promotion of the images of the two countries. He said that in 2023, Hanoi coordinated with the Colombian Embassy to organize many cultural activities, notably the program "Colombia Weaves Peace", contributing to enhancing understanding and friendship between the people of the two countries.
Chairman Tran Sy Thanh suggested that Ambassador Camila Maria Polo Florez continue to play the role of a bridge, promoting cooperation between Hanoi and Bogota, effectively exploiting the potential and strengths of both sides. He expressed his belief that, in her new term in Vietnam, the Ambassador will make many positive contributions, deepening the relationship between Hanoi and the Colombian Embassy, contributing to the increasingly substantive and effective development of bilateral relations.
