On April 2, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front sent condolences to the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, and the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction. The contents of the telegram are as follows:

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the President, the Government, the National Assembly, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Vietnamese People would like to express our deepest condolences upon hearing the news of the passing of General Khamtay Siphandone, former Chairman of the Party and former President of Laos, on April 2, 2025.

Comrade Khamtay Siphandone, an outstanding leader of the first generation, a key member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, an outstanding son of the Lao people, a loyal revolutionary soldier who sacrificed his whole life for national independence, freedom, happiness of the people and the prosperous development of Laos.

The passing of Comrade Khamtay Siphandone is a great loss to the Lao Party, State, People and his family. The Party, State, Army and People of Vietnam have lost a great friend, a very close comrade and brother who fought side by side in the long resistance wars of the two nations. He always supported the Vietnamese people's cause of national construction and defense and made many important contributions to building, consolidating and developing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

The Party, State and People of Vietnam highly appreciate the great contributions of comrade Khamtay Siphandone to the struggle for national independence of the Lao people in the past as well as in the cause of innovation, protection, construction and development of Laos today.

The Party, State, Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Vietnamese People would like to send to the Party, State, Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction, the Lao People and the family of comrade Khamtay Siphandone our deepest condolences.

We believe that the Lao Party, State, People and the family of comrade Khamtay Siphandone will soon overcome this great loss and grief, and continue the work of building Laos to become more and more prosperous.
