The program is chaired by the Military Medical Department, General Department of Logistics and Engineering (Vietnam People's Army), in coordination with the Chinese Military Medical Delegation, the Military Institute of Traditional Medicine, the Military Region 1 Command, the Border Guard Command and local authorities.
From early morning, many people from Dong Dang town and neighboring communes of Cao Loc district were present at Dong Dang town People's Committee to register for medical examination.
Ms. La Diu Chan, a resident of Dong Dang town, said she has been suffering from persistent eye and toothache. “People, especially the elderly with underlying diseases and many difficulties, do not have the conditions to regularly go to medical facilities for medical examination. We hope that there will be more meaningful programs like this organized locally,” she told a VNA reporter.

In his opening speech, Colonel Tran Duy Hung, Deputy Director of the Military Medical Department, General Department of Logistics and Engineering (Vietnam People's Army) said that the program is an activity of profound political , social and humanitarian significance to express gratitude for the support and care of the people and local authorities for the armies of the two countries. The activity contributes to enhancing the solidarity and friendship of the people and armies of the two countries in general and the military medical force in particular.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Trieu Hung Luong, Head of the Chinese Military Medical Group, the two sides will deploy a form of mobile medical examination and treatment, providing high-quality medical services, protecting and caring for the health of the people of Vietnam and China. At the same time, doctors from the two countries will share experiences and techniques, and improve medical qualifications, laying a stronger foundation for future military medical cooperation.
According to Colonel, Dr. Luu Truong Thanh Hung, Deputy Director of the Military Traditional Medicine Institute, the program uses modern medical equipment, sends highly specialized doctors to coordinate with Chinese military doctors to examine, provide health consultation and provide free medicine to people.
This is the first time that delegations have been exchanged in medical examination and treatment activities carried out simultaneously in both Vietnam and China. Previously, on April 11, a Vietnamese military medical delegation went to China to coordinate the implementation of a similar program in Pingxiang City, Chongzuo Prefecture, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Here, nearly 100 Chinese military doctors and 24 Vietnamese military doctors and nurses participated in examining and distributing medicine to local people.
The program was implemented over two days, April 12-13, focusing on screening for some common diseases; disseminating knowledge about health care, protection and disease prevention for people of the two countries in the border area near Huu Nghi Border Gate. The activity aims to promote international cooperation in the field of military medicine, strengthen the relationship between the military medical force and local authorities and people in the border areas of the two countries.
