With the poetic beauty of the emerald green beaches and the majestic primeval forest that is “sleeping”, Cat Ba Island has long been one of the top beach destinations for domestic and foreign tourists when exploring Vietnam. In contrast to the crowded, cramped summer scene, on cold days, Cat Ba Island seems to return to its most pristine, primitive beauty and is an ideal place for spring travel.
In winter, the natural landscape of Cat Ba Island is still very green and full of life. The diverse and rich natural ecosystem has helped Cat Ba Island always be a "green pearl" at any time of the year.

Having visited the island many times during the cold season, Ms. Ngoc Anh (Hai Phong) has never ceased to be amazed by the natural beauty here. “It seems that there is no winter in Cat Ba, the colors of leaves and flowers are always blooming brilliantly on the island,” Ms. Ngoc Anh shared.
The beaches on Cat Ba Island such as Cat Co 1, Cat Co 2, Cat Co 3... used to be crowded with people but are now deserted during the low season. However, according to Ms. Ngoc Anh, the beaches are still very beautiful and instead of going swimming, she and her friends have a spacious space to lie on the shore, drink coconut water and listen to the sound of waves rolling in the distance.
In addition to relaxing on the white sand beaches covered in golden sunshine, many tourists, especially international tourists, also enjoy traveling on the roads of Cat Ba Island. On the island, there are two routes that many people choose to explore the beautiful scenery: Road 356 and the coastal road.
If you follow the coastal route, you will mostly see the vast, blue sea with boats loaded with fish docking. Meanwhile, route 356 through Cat Ba National Park will take you to the endless green forests and limestone mountains on both sides of the road.
Traveling to Cat Ba Island for the first time, Shahbaz Gul (31 years old, Pakistan) was extremely excited about the 356 route running through the island. He shared that the experience of riding a motorbike on this route allowed him to immerse himself in the deep green beauty of the mountains and forests. The cool weather and fresh air on Cat Ba Island in winter helped him feel very comfortable and pleasant throughout his journey to explore the island.

Along the route across Cat Ba Island, many foreign tourists, despite the cold weather, still wear shorts and t-shirts to ride motorbikes or walk to explore the rich beauty of the island's flora and fauna. This is also the route for tourists to trek in the National Park or visit famous places such as: Quan Y Cave, Trung Trang Cave... Further away is the ancient village of Viet Hai - a peaceful fishing village with a hundred-year history.
The peaceful, poetic, pristine natural scenery and reasonable prices have turned Cat Ba Island into a wonderful resort paradise for tourists in the cold season. No more crowded scenes, no more rooms... like in the summer, in the low season on Cat Ba Island, tourists can easily enjoy the leisurely, slow pace of life with the friendliness of the islanders.
In particular, Cat Ba cuisine is always full of the flavor of the sea in any season of the year. Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, the owner of a seafood restaurant that has been open for more than 20 years on Cat Ba Island, revealed that in winter from November to February, seafood is always fresher and more delicious. This is because this is the time when seafood accumulates energy, preparing for the breeding season when Spring comes.

Diners can enjoy dishes such as crispy sea urchin salad; hot geoduck porridge; fragrant shrimp noodles or thin-skinned, sweet Gia Luan tangerines. In addition, visitors can also light a fire to warm up and enjoy fresh, sweet seafood right on the beach because this is a very suitable activity during the cold season on Cat Ba Island.
The rich, green beauty of the “golden forest, silver sea”, the attractive cuisine along with the relaxation and peace that can only be found in winter on Cat Ba Island have turned this place into a resort with interesting experiences that many tourists love. “I will return to Cat Ba many times in the cold season, especially in early spring. My family can go to the beach and have a relaxing space to gather together”, Ms. Ngoc Anh shared more.
