The Union of European Football Associations has imposed the lowest level of suspension on Marcus Rashford, following his straight red card in the Copenhagen - Man Utd match in the Champions League.
On November 24, UEFA announced that Rashford would only be banned for one match. The announcement said that the Man Utd striker had only committed a rough, rather than deliberate, foul on Elias Jelert. If the straight red card had occurred in the Premier League, Rashford would have been banned for three matches.
Rashford has scored just one goal in 16 games in all competitions this season, a sharp drop from the 30 goals he scored in 56 games last season, when he was at his best for Man Utd.

In the 42nd minute of the Copenhagen - Man Utd match on November 8, Rashford missed the ball and stepped on Jelert's ankle. Immediately after that, referee Donatas Rumsas gave Man Utd's "number 10" a direct red card. Playing with one less player put the English team at a disadvantage. From leading 2-0, Man Utd equalized in the first half's extra time. After the break, Bruno Fernandes scored a penalty to increase the score to 3-2. However, the advantage of one more player still helped Copenhagen win three points. In the 83rd and 87th minutes, Lukas Lerager and Roony Bardghji scored, bringing the Danish team a 4-3 comeback victory.
Rashford will miss United's trip to Galatasaray's Ali Sami Yen Stadium on November 29. He will return to action against Bayern on December 12, in the final group stage match.
Man Utd are currently bottom of Group A of the Champions League, with three points from four games. They won only one match against Copenhagen with a score of 1-0 in the first leg, the rest lost 3-4 to Bayern, 2-3 to Galatasaray and the return leg against Copenhagen.
If they win at Galatasaray in the next match, Man Utd can move up to second place. Then they have to face Bayern at home, who have already qualified and finished first in the group. If they finish third in the group stage, Man Utd will drop into the Europa League. If they finish bottom of the group, Erik Ten Hag's team will be eliminated from the European arena.
In the 2020-2021 season, Man Utd also finished third in the Champions League group stage behind PSG and Leipzig. But after being relegated to the Europa League, they reached the final and only lost to Villarreal on penalties.
