On the afternoon of September 5, the People's Committee of Nhon Trach District (Dong Nai) said that the police are continuing to investigate the incident. So far, Nhon Trach District police have invited all motorcyclists who drove in the wrong direction and "caused chaos" at Cat Lai ferry to come in for questioning.
"When there is a specific report on the incident, the People's Committee of Nhon Trach district will inform later," said the district chairman.
However, according to the report of the Harley Davidson motorcycle group and the opinion of Mr. Nguyen Chien Thang, Director of Cat Lai Ferry Management Enterprise, there was a conflict.
According to the report of the motorcycle group, Mr. NDK (leader of the Harley Davidson motorcycle group) said that on that day, the group of 6 motorcycles traveling to Cat Lai ferry still obeyed traffic laws, driving on the right side. When the group was about 20 meters from the ticket gate, a police officer and Cat Lai ferry staff opened the barrier to let cars go in the opposite direction.
At this time, an employee saw the group of motorbikes standing next to the car, so he waved for the group to follow the car to get on the ferry.
However, when approaching the ticket gate, Mr. K's group was stopped by another employee who refused to sell tickets and asked them to turn around and line up again from the beginning.
At the same time, a local resident saw this and reacted, thinking that Mr. K.'s motorbike group had cut in line without permission. So there was an argument between the motorbike group and the local resident. After that, a person in the group and the local resident got into a fight, and the ferry staff quickly arrived to stop them.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Chien Thang, Director of Cat Lai Ferry Management Enterprise, said that at the time of the incident, traffic was congested for a long time.
“At that time, the police force of Phu Huu commune, Nhon Trach district, Dong Nai coordinated to support the ferry to regulate traffic. When the barrier was opened to regulate cars turning left into the ticket area to cross the ferry, the group of motorbikes followed. After following for a while, we stopped them...”, the representative informed.
Mr. Thang also confirmed that there was no such thing as ferry staff "creating conditions" for the motorbikes to drive in the opposite direction of the car to cross the ferry.
As VietNamNet reported, previously, a clip appeared on social media recording a scene of a group of motorbikes driving in the wrong direction, causing "chaos" when crossing Cat Lai ferry, on the bank of Nhon Trach district (Dong Nai).
According to the clip, this group refused to line up to buy tickets when crossing the ferry, but instead drove in the opposite direction and got into a scuffle with the locals.
