On January 10, the Government issued a resolution to promulgate an action program to implement Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo in 2024, following a series of moves that Vietnam has made in recent weeks to develop science, technology and university education. That move has recently been reported by a number of international media channels with positive and optimistic comments. The PIE News, the world's leading information site on international education based in the UK, recently published an article about Vietnam's new international education strategy with the title: "Vietnam's education aims to increase international students". The article mentioned Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo along with Decision No. 1705 and Decision No. 1600 of the Prime Minister to prove that our country is making a series of moves to realize the above ambition. Accordingly, the news pointed out that in the short term, Vietnam aims to increase the rate of international students to 1.5% (currently only 0.5%); increase the number of Vietnamese universities in the world's top 500 (no schools yet) and Asia's top 200 (currently 4 schools); increase investment in research and development (R&D) to 2% of GDP; increase the number of foreign universities in the world's top 500 opening branches in Vietnam... Meanwhile, the long-term goal is to make English the second language in the education system. "Vietnam is making efforts to attract international students and expand opportunities for international educational cooperation at a time when the country is increasingly asserting its position as a key enrollment market in the region," commented The PIE News , citing a report from Acumen to show that Vietnam is the country in Southeast Asia with the largest source of international students (37%), followed by Malaysia (16%), Indonesia (16%) and Thailand (9%). The India-based Asia Education Review recently published an article: "Vietnam's education strategy to raise its international status and attract international students", emphasizing the ambition to become an educational powerhouse in the region and the world by 2030 by integrating innovation and international cooperation into the educational strategies that Vietnam is implementing. "Vietnam is taking bold steps to enhance its attractiveness as an international education hub", the newspaper concluded.
Professors and international students from 7 Asian countries and territories came to Thanh Nien Newspaper to learn how to verify information within the framework of an educational program in Vietnam.
