After hints from CEO Tim Cook, Apple has just officially launched the successor to the sixth generation iPad Air.

Compared to its predecessor, the new iPad Air is a major upgrade in terms of specifications. The 2025 model runs on the M3 chip, supporting Apple Intelligence. Although it does not have the most modern chip (M4), Apple said the new iPad Air is still twice as powerful as the version with the M1 chip and A14 Bionic. In the press release, Apple did not directly compare the power of the new tablet with its predecessor, which was released less than a year ago.

The new iPad Air comes in four colors: space gray, blue, purple, and yellow. Users can choose from two screen sizes: 11 inches or 13 inches. Both use Retina displays with anti-reflective coating and True Tone. The 13-inch version has 600 nits of brightness, according to Apple. The device still has options for Wi-Fi or 5G connectivity.

Other specifications are not mentioned much by Apple. This model is almost not much different in appearance compared to its predecessor.

In Vietnam, the iPad Air uses an M3 chip, the 128 GB version starts at 16.9 million VND for the 11-inch version. The 13-inch version starts at 22.5 million VND. The most expensive version uses 1 TB of memory, 5G connection, priced at 39.9 million VND.

The device supports Apple Pencil Pro (priced at VND 3.5 million) and Apple Pencil (priced at VND 2.1 million).

In addition, Apple also introduced an accessory for iPad Air called Magic Keyboard. The new keyboard is priced from 8.2 million VND. This accessory adds a row of function keys and a larger designed touchpad.

According to The Verge , the iPad Air is a unique tablet line on the market. Sometimes it is the most attractive product in Apple's device line with the perfect combination of price and performance. Sometimes it is a difficult choice for users. By upgrading the M3 chip without increasing the price, Apple seems to be trying to help buyers feel less hesitant when choosing to buy the iPad Air line.

Meanwhile, Bloomberg said that the new model is a quick revision of the Air line, which has been launched less than a year. Apple wants to take advantage of the strong growth of the iPad in the market. The company has almost no competitors in the tablet industry, so upgrading the iPad Air is mainly to reach the group of customers who are still hesitant.

However, the continued release of the iPad Air also partly shows that Apple is still stuck on the two-decade-old question: What is the iPad really for?

The newly launched iPad Air looks like a powerful upgrade, but in terms of user experience, it doesn't always bring clear differences. In terms of appearance, this model is even less outstanding. Many people even question why Apple didn't equip the iPad Air with the latest chip (M4) and only stopped at the M3 chip?

For first-time iPad buyers, this may still be a difficult choice, but for those looking to upgrade from an older iPad, the M3-powered iPad Air is still a big step up in specs without increasing the price.

The most anticipated blockbuster is the new generation MacBook Air that has yet to be introduced by Apple. The company's new generation laptop could be equipped with the M4 chip, similar to the iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, iMac and Mac mini that were previously launched. According to analysts, if the MacBook Air is equipped with the M4 chip, Apple will show that they are prioritizing improving the performance of their laptop line in the context of fierce market competition.
