On March 4, in Hanoi, General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, received UK Home Secretary Simon Ridley.
At the reception, Minister Luong Tam Quang welcomed the Secretary of State and the delegation of the UK Home Office to visit and work with the Ministry of Public Security; expressed his delight at the results of the "3rd Vietnam-UK Migration and Immigration Dialogue."
Minister Luong Tam Quang emphasized that the Dialogue Mechanism between the two sides is very important to discuss issues of mutual concern, clarify each other's views and positions on newly emerging issues, and identify cooperation measures to bring the strategic partnership between the two countries to a new level, including in the fields of ensuring national security and maintaining social order and safety in each country.
Minister Luong Tam Quang suggested that the two sides concretize the achieved results and actively implement the agreed agreements to better meet each other's wishes and needs.
To continue cooperation between the two ministries in various fields, Minister Luong Tam Quang suggested that the two sides implement signed cooperation documents, especially the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in preventing and combating human trafficking, the Memorandum of Understanding on sharing immigration information, the Memorandum of Understanding on migration issues, and the Joint Communique at the "3rd Vietnam-UK Migration and Immigration Dialogue."
Along with that, it is necessary to increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially at the expert level, to share working experiences and professional information in the fields of preventing and combating human trafficking and illegal migration; coordinate the investigation of networks that fake political asylum applications, human trafficking victims for illegal profit and bring violators to trial. Expand cooperation in areas where the UK Home Office has strengths such as preventing and combating high-tech crimes, financial crimes, money laundering, counterfeit passports and documents.
On this occasion, Minister Luong Tam Quang asked the British Home Office to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese citizens to reside, work and study legally in the UK, considering this a measure to prevent illegal immigration.
Expressing his gratitude to Minister Luong Tam Quang for taking the time to meet him, UK Home Secretary Simon Ridley highly appreciated the increasingly close cooperation between the two Ministries in recent times, especially the effective coordination within the framework of the "3rd Vietnam-UK Migration and Immigration Dialogue," which took place the same morning in Hanoi.
Mr. Simon Ridley affirmed that the UK Home Office will continue to closely coordinate with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security to implement signed agreements, including the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation on Preventing and Combating Human Trafficking, the Memorandum of Understanding on Sharing Immigration Information and the Joint Communique at the 3rd Vietnam-UK Migration and Immigration Dialogue; and is ready to expand cooperation with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security in areas where the UK Home Office has strengths.

Also on the same day, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security coordinated with the UK Home Office to organize the 3rd Vietnam-UK Migration and Immigration Dialogue.
At the dialogue, the two sides affirmed the close cooperation between Vietnam and the UK in addressing migration and immigration issues, with a commitment to focus on efforts in the following areas: preventing and combating illegal migration and human trafficking; raising awareness of preventing and combating illegal migration and human trafficking; repatriation and legal migration routes; proposing solutions to prevent illegal immigration and migration; encouraging safe and legal immigration through communication activities, training to improve immigration capacity and information exchange; continuing to maintain and improve the effectiveness of close cooperation in repatriation work...
At the end of the dialogue, the two sides signed a Joint Communique expressing their commitment to close cooperation on efforts and initiatives to more effectively combat organized crime groups that smuggle illegal migrants and human trafficking, organized crime and related security issues./.
