(CLO) The Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization that operates this open encyclopedia, has released its annual list of the most visited Wikipedia pages.
This tool gives us a glimpse into the trends and events that are attracting global attention. According to the report, the English Wikipedia has recorded more than 76 billion page views this year (as of October).
“The most popular articles on Wikipedia reflect our world, our shared interests at a time,” Anusha Alikhan, Director of Communications at the Wikimedia Foundation, said in a statement.
Accordingly, the List of people who died in 2024 page is the most visited page, with more than 44 million views.
The topic has topped the list of most visited pages five times since the Wikimedia Foundation began publishing data in 2015, and has never dropped below third place.
Additionally, articles about US politics, celebrities like Taylor Swift, Hollywood movies, global sporting events, and the Indian general election also attracted a large number of visits. ChatGPT, the most visited topic site in 2023, fell to 12th place this year.

Vice President Kamala Harris, ranked second with nearly 29 million views. The 2024 US presidential election, ranked third with about 28 million views. The 2020 US presidential election ranked 13th on the list, with views doubling in November this year. President-elect Donald Trump ranked fifth.
Project 2025 ranked ninth with nearly 20 million views. In the top 25 was billionaire Elon Musk, who will head the “Department of Government Efficiency” in the new Trump administration.
Taylor Swift came in at No. 11, down from No. 9 in 2023, but still attracted huge interest as she wrapped up her Eras tour. The Indian general election also made the top 10, with over 18 million views for the year.
Additionally, international sporting events such as the 2024 Summer Olympics, the UEFA European Football Championship and Cristiano Ronaldo are also in the top 25.
Wikipedia launched in 2001 and is maintained by more than 260,000 volunteer editors, with more than 31 million edits and nearly 3.5 billion bytes of information added in 2024.
According to the Wikimedia Foundation, the editors who compile the list screen out spam, bots, and other inaccuracies that can disrupt page views.
This list uses data collected as of November 22, and the Wikimedia Foundation will update the final list in January.
