Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum Nguyen Anh Minh said that Hanoi - the capital of a thousand years of culture, the City for Peace has always been an attractive subject, an endless source of inspiration for the creations of generations of artists. Many valuable works of art, imbued with realism, depict vivid, authentic and profound images, expressing the vitality and constant growth of the capital, thereby also expressing the trust of the people of the whole country for this land.
“The exhibition introduces 70 selected works from the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum’s modern art collection on the theme of Hanoi. The works have diverse materials, rich visual language, and carry their own style, mark, and sincere feelings of the visual artists for the capital,” added Mr. Nguyen Anh Minh.

At the exhibition, the public can enjoy works about Hanoi through each period and historical stage. Some examples include the work "Capturing the Northern Palace" (Tran Dinh Tho) about Hanoi seething with revolutionary spirit before 1945; the works "Nga Tu So Fortress", "Cho Mo" (Nguyen Van Ty), "Hanoi in 1947" (Cong Van Trung), "Capital of Resistance" (Quang Phong), showing a heroic Hanoi in the early days of the resistance war...
In particular, the image of Hanoi, resplendent with flags and flowers welcoming the army marching to liberate the capital, is vividly depicted in the works "Hanoi on Liberation Night" (Le Thanh Duc), "Hang Duong Street" (Trinh Huu Ngoc), "The Joy of Liberation" (Tran Khanh Chuong)...
The exhibition also has many works about Uncle Ho and the Capital such as "Uncle Ho with Gia Lam railway workers" (Pham Van Lung), "Uncle Ho visits the elementary school" (Do Huu Hue)...

In addition, the public can also enjoy works by artists Bui Xuan Phai, Tran Binh Loc, Pham Van Don, Vu Duy Nghia, Kim Thai, Nguyet Nga... about Hanoi "once at peace" with its quiet, ancient features interwoven with the strength and brightness of a rising, developing and integrating capital.
In particular, along with displaying works in the traditional form, the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum also applies digital projection technology and organizes woodblock printing activities to bring new experiences to the audience.
The exhibition runs until October 22, at 66 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi.
