Deploying construction of 500 kV Quang Tri transformer station and connecting lines

On March 20, 2024, in Hai Lang district, Quang Tri province, EVNNPT and the Central Power Project Management Board (CPMB) organized the construction of the Quang Tri 500 kV transformer station and the Quang Tri - Vung Ang - Da Nang connection line.

Strengthening the power supply for Quang Tri province and the region

The 500 kV Quang Tri transformer station project and the Quang Tri - Vung Ang - Da Nang connecting line were assigned by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) to the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) as the investor, and the Central Power Project Management Board (CPMB) on behalf of EVNNPT manages the project.

The project has a total investment of 965 billion VND. This is an urgent power project in the National Power Development Plan with the aim of ensuring power supply for regional loads; releasing power plant capacity in the region to the national grid system; improving the reliability and safety of power supply for the regional grid.

The 500 kV transformer station is built in Hai Truong commune, Hai Lang district, Quang Tri province, about 2.5 km northeast of the existing 500 kV Vung Ang - Da Nang line. The station has a transmission voltage of 500 kV and 220 kV, the transformer capacity includes 02 500 kV transformers - 2x(3x300) MVA installed outdoors, in the first phase, 01 transformer (3x300) MVA will be installed first.

The 500 kV line connecting to the 500 kV Quang Tri transformer station is connected to and from the existing 500 kV Da Nang - Ha Tinh and Da Nang - Vung Ang lines, including branch A about 3.1 km long and branch B about 2.8 km long.

The 220 kV line connecting to the 500 kV Quang Tri transformer station is connected to and from the existing 220 kV Dong Ha - Hue line and the existing Dong Ha - Phong Dien line, including branch A about 3.2 km long and branch B about 2.9 km long.

In the past time, realizing the importance of the project, CPMB has urgently carried out procedures to select contractors for the project's related packages. Along with that, with the attention and direction of the Provincial Party Committee, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, departments, branches, localities, EVN, EVNNPT, CPMB has completed the procedures to implement the project.

Efforts to ensure project progress

Speaking at the construction launch ceremony, Member of EVNNPT Board of Directors Vo Hoai Nam thanked the Quang Tri provincial government for its close attention and direction; the support and coordination of departments, branches and districts as well as the people who gave up land for EVNNPT to implement the project.

EVNNPT leaders hope to continue receiving attention and support from authorities at all levels as well as people in the province so that EVNNPT's projects implemented in the area can be completed, constructed and operated on schedule.

EVNNPT leaders praised CPMB for its efforts and good coordination with the authorities of Quang Tri province and Hai Lang district in agreeing on route direction, approving design, compensation and site clearance... to organize and implement the project. At the same time, they requested CPMB to focus on management and operation, closely monitor quality, and coordinate well with local authorities during the construction process so that the project can be completed on schedule and in strict compliance with legal regulations.

EVNNPT leaders also requested the construction contractor to arrange sufficient human resources, materials, machinery and equipment for construction at the site, take advantage of favorable weather conditions, and be ready to speed up the progress. In particular, proactively coordinate with CPMB and local authorities at all levels in compensation and site clearance for construction, promptly report difficulties and obstacles so that all parties can participate in resolving them; organize construction with the goal of acceptance and energization in the second quarter of 2025.

The construction quality supervision consultant unit arranges forces to supervise and accept the construction steps, ensuring the construction progress of the construction contractors. Immediately implement the acceptance of completed items to shorten the progress of acceptance and handover of electricity. The design consultant unit assigns author supervision staff to be present at the site regularly to promptly handle arising problems, ensuring the construction progress of the contractor.

Mr. Le Duc Tien, Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, said that the province is always aware of the importance and urgency of the Quang Tri 500 kV transformer station project and the connecting line passing through the province and has directed departments, branches and localities to actively participate in handing over the site to the investor to implement the project. At the same time, he committed to always accompany, support and share work with the Electricity sector to work together to complete the project on schedule.

Mr. Tien also requested the departments and branches of the Hai Lang District People's Committee to coordinate in completing detailed handover procedures for the route, step up propaganda work for the people, not to allow the emergence of houses and constructions in the agreed power line corridor; approve the unit price for compensation and site clearance; create maximum conditions for investors in compensation work, meeting project progress targets; ensure sufficient land fund for project implementation; create conditions to support construction units related to compensation work for construction; allow construction units to use inter-village, inter-commune, inter-district roads... to transport materials and equipment for construction with the highest goal of completing the project on schedule.
