In the first quarter of 2024, the Provincial Party Standing Committee will continue to lead and direct Party committees at all levels to implement the policies and resolutions of the Central and the province on internal affairs and judicial reform; lead and direct Party committees and authorities at all levels to focus on leading and directing the police, military and border forces to grasp the situation and implement solutions to ensure political security (SPS) and social order and safety (SSO) in the province, especially during the 2024 Lunar New Year. Focus on directing the handling and resolution of complicated cases, incidents, complaints and denunciations.
However, in the first quarter of 2024, most types of crime increased compared to the fourth quarter of 2023. There were 103 criminal cases in the area, killing 4 people, injuring 10 people, and causing property damage of about 7.6 billion VND. In addition, drug crimes in the area are still complicated; there were 4 cases of corruption crimes; traffic accidents increased in all 3 criteria compared to the same period in 2023, with 57 cases in the province, killing 27 people, injuring 47 people, and causing property damage of nearly 1 billion VND; there were 9 fires, causing damage of nearly 500 million VND.
The authorities coordinated to detect and arrest 69 cases/103 subjects with acts of storing, trading and illegally transporting drugs, seizing 0.046g of heroin, more than 120kg and 208,145 synthetic drug pills; arresting 223 cases/226 subjects transporting and trading illegal goods; detecting 90 cases/100 individuals violating environmental laws, prosecuting 3 cases/4 defendants, administratively handling 87 cases/96 individuals, fined more than 720 million VND.
The work of receiving and handling petitions and denunciations has been highly effective. The police have received 263 reports and denunciations of crimes and recommended prosecution, and have resolved 146 of them, reaching a rate of 55.5%; the two-level People's Procuracy has received 263 reports and denunciations of crimes, has resolved 146 of them, and currently 84 are being processed.
The conference discussed and clarified the achievements and some shortcomings, limitations and difficulties in performing tasks, especially cases that have attracted public attention.
The key tasks of internal affairs in the second quarter of 2024 are: Continuing to lead and direct the serious implementation of central and provincial policies on internal affairs and judicial reform; leading and directing the implementation of the 2024 national defense and security directive. Directing functional forces to strictly maintain combat readiness regimes, strengthen forecasting, grasp the situation on all routes, fields and areas; promptly handle and resolve emerging issues, not allowing complications, passivity, surprises to arise, maintaining security and order, social order and safety in all situations. Party committees, authorities at all levels and functional agencies focus on handling and resolving disputes and complaints among the people, promptly handling conflicts and complicated cases...
Concluding the conference, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Quang requested all levels, sectors and units to step up the work of preventing and combating crimes, especially drug crimes. Continue to focus forces to effectively implement the Homeland Protection Strategy in the new situation according to Resolution 8 of the 13th Central Committee; continue to build civil defense areas, build a strong national defense.
