At the end of May 2024, agricultural products and fresh fruits brought by businesses and traders to Lang Son province's border gates for export tended to increase, especially at Tan Thanh border gate and Huu Nghi international border gate.
This poses a potential risk of traffic congestion, making it difficult to manage the flow of vehicles entering and leaving the border gate area. Lang Son provincial authorities have increased coordination, implemented traffic flow separation, and regulated vehicles carrying import and export goods to ensure smooth and clear movement and customs clearance...
At Huu Nghi international border gate, import and export activities are vibrant and stable, with an average of 500 - 800 vehicles carrying goods cleared through customs every day, mostly carrying agricultural products and fresh fruits. The authorities have regulated vehicles waiting for export outside National Highway 1 into the duty-free zone (in Tan My commune, Van Lang district) to ensure security, order, and environmental sanitation, contributing to solving the prolonged traffic congestion on the national highway. The yards are kept clear and stable.
In the border gate area, although the volume of goods and vehicles participating in circulation is high, it still ensures smoothness, safety, security and order. The Border Guard force regularly coordinates with Customs officers, the Border Gate Management Center and the wharf management unit in transferring and arranging vehicles, minimizing congestion; propagating to businesses, cargo owners, guiding drivers to enter and exit the border gate area according to the arrangements of the authorities.
Major Tran Van Hung, Deputy Head of the Huu Nghi International Border Guard Station, said that from May to July every year, the number of vehicles carrying agricultural products for export from the southern provinces to the Huu Nghi International Border Gate increases. This is the main harvest season for many types of domestic agricultural products. Grasping the situation, the unit has developed a plan and a scheme to organize the flow of vehicles, arrange officers and soldiers to work 24/7 to promptly handle arising situations, coordinate with forces at the border gate to resolve related issues...
In order to reduce the pressure from cargo vehicles moving to the Huu Nghi international border gate and Tan Thanh border gate, the Traffic Police force and Lang Son Provincial Police have proactively divided traffic from a distance, right on National Highway 1 towards the border gate to ensure orderly traffic flow, minimizing the situation of chaotic stopping and parking, and traffic insecurity.
Lieutenant Colonel Do Minh Ngoc, Deputy Captain of Road Traffic Police Team No. 1, Traffic Police Department, said that the unit regularly arranges patrols and controls on National Highway 1 and the road leading to the border gate area to carry out remote traffic separation, ensuring orderly traffic before entering the border gate. Recently, although the traffic volume on National Highway 1 to the border gate is high, there has been no record of congestion.
According to the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone, border trade activities at the province's border gates are smooth and stable. On average, more than 1,000 vehicles carrying import and export goods are cleared through the province's border gates every day (at times reaching 1,400 vehicles). The total import and export turnover of all types of goods from the beginning of the year to mid-May 2024 in Lang Son reached more than 23 billion USD (an increase of 31.9% over the same period in 2023). The total import and export turnover declared at the Lang Son Provincial Customs Department reached over 2 billion USD.

The development and implementation of plans and measures to prevent congestion at the border gates have contributed to creating a smooth import and export environment, especially during the main agricultural harvest season.
