This morning, December 21, at Lao Bao Trade Center, Huong Hoa District, Quang Tri Province, Lao Bao Town People's Committee held the opening ceremony of Lao Bao Border Market with the participation of over 50 booths from localities in the province and neighboring Laos. Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department Ho Dai Nam attended the ceremony.
The Lao Bao border market is held periodically from 6:00 a.m. every Saturday starting from December 21, 2024 to January 18, 2025. The booths bring products made by local people, typical products of the Van Kieu, Pa Ko ethnic groups and Laos; OCOP products, specialty dishes with the characteristics of the mountainous district of Huong Hoa. At the opening ceremony, many performances expressing the unique cultural identity of the ethnic people in the Vietnam - Laos border area were performed and attracted a large number of local people as well as tourists to visit and enjoy.
Chairman of Lao Bao Town People's Committee Le Ba Hung said that this is the first time the locality has organized a border market model with the aim of introducing and promoting the potentials and strengths of tourism, customs, practices, and unique cultural identity to promote investment attraction for local socio-economic development; a place for people on both sides of the border to exchange goods, meet and exchange; consolidate and strengthen the great national unity bloc, especially the Vietnam - Laos friendship.
With the desire to build Lao Bao Border Market into an address on the journey connecting tourist destinations, contributing to attracting more tourists to Lao Bao town in particular and Huong Hoa district in general, the locality has carefully prepared for the markets to gradually diversify tourism products, creating opportunities for people on both sides of the border to exchange, trade and exchange goods.
Participating in the special market in Quang Tri province for the first time, Ms. Muc Da in Densavanh village, Sepon district, Savannakhet province excitedly shared: “Coming to the Lao Bao Border Market, my family prepared many garments, brocade fabrics, ready-made costumes that are typical of Lao people to display, introduce and promote. This is an opportunity for me and Lao people in the border area to exchange and learn about Vietnamese culture, at the same time, exchange and buy and sell many other items”.

At the opening ceremony of the fair, through the connection of the Quang Tri Province Flower Road Development Fund, the new Miss Nguyen Ngoc Thao Nguyen, from Huong Hoa district, crowned Miss at the Miss Vietnam Era 2024 Final held in Ninh Thuan on December 14, 2024, presented many gifts to students and households in difficult circumstances, and at the same time contributed to introducing and promoting some products and agricultural brands of local people.
