(NLDO) - On the evening of November 7, at the City Theater, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City held the 3rd Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Awards Ceremony (2018-2022).

Attending the program were Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; Phan Nguyen Nhu Khue, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Propaganda Department of the City Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; Huynh Thanh Nhan, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council; Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Mr. Tran The Thuan, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports; Nguyen Truong Luu, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Literature and Arts Associations... along with artists and a large audience and people of the city.

The Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Award is an award with a tradition of more than 20 years organized by the City People's Committee to encourage and motivate artists to participate in the process of artistic creation, creating works of depth and contributing to building an advanced culture imbued with national identity.
Speaking at the program, Mr. Nguyen Truong Luu - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Literature and Arts Associations, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Final Jury of the Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Award - emphasized: "The Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Award is a noble award, not only recognizing the efforts of artists but also encouraging them to embark on the creative path with many ambitions. The literary and artistic works awarded today reflect the tireless efforts of artists."
From May 15 to August 15, 2023, the end of the submission period, the Final Jury received 292 entries from individuals and groups of authors to register for the award. The members of the jury evaluated and voted on 55 entries to propose awards, including: Literature major: 7 entries; Theater major: 7 entries; Fine Arts major: 7 entries; Music major: 6 entries; Cinema major: 7 entries; Photography major: 7 entries; Architecture major: 3 entries; Dance major: 6 entries; Ethnic minority literature and arts major: 6 entries.
Also at the ceremony, Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy - Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - also suggested that it is necessary to continue to widely promote the award-winning works for the purpose of creativity and diversity, so that the achievements of artists can reach the public, contributing to spreading the values of truth - goodness - beauty of literary and artistic works in cultural and spiritual life.
Of the 9 award-winning fields, the Dance field is the only field with a work winning First Prize with the Dance Drama "Ballet Kieu" by the group of authors Mr. Nguyen Phuc Hung and Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet, choreographers, City Dance Artists Association.
Director Chanh Truc and author Vuong Huyen Co were awarded the Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Award.
Meritorious Artist Ta Thuy Chi expressed her joy and emotion when receiving the Third Prize in the Dance category with the Dance Suite "The bright features of the city named after Uncle Ho": "This is an extremely valuable award for us. We artists today always strive to maintain our passion for the profession, and this award is the recognition and motivation for today's artists to continue the tradition of the previous generation, contributing to building a colorful and rich art scene in Ho Chi Minh City."
At the ceremony, writer Nguyen Xuan Phuong shared his thoughts: "The young force is an important force to bring the country's literature to a new level. I am very happy because the open atmosphere in the art space, the encouragement of the leaders, the solidarity and youthfulness of the city are the motivation for young people to follow. I also try to follow that. I advise all young people, tell you, that when we try to keep the youthfulness of our hearts, no one should talk about age."
