Participating in the discussion session of the Workshop, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi mentioned the issue: "Opposing media hegemony, the strategy of the Southern Hemisphere media to fight against the dominance of Western media".

Journalist Nguyen Duc Loi emphasized: It is no longer strange that Western countries are using the media as a tool to manipulate world politics to achieve political goals. Media hegemony causes negative consequences for society. That is, it limits freedom of speech, causes inequality in access to information, and causes social polarization.

Therefore, it is very important to fight against media hegemony to ensure a diverse and fair information space. The Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association has proposed a number of solutions to fight against or limit the dominance of Western media. Accordingly, countries in the Southern Hemisphere need to build an effective communication strategy, which focuses on raising people's awareness of multi-dimensional information; building diverse information content that reflects reality; diversifying media channels; enhancing the capacity of journalists in content production; and building a network of connections and cooperation.

“Building a network of connections and cooperation means creating forums for exchange through organizing conferences and workshops so that journalists, content producers, and scholars from countries in the Global South can exchange ideas and experiences. Establishing media alliances between media organizations, journalists, and content producers from countries in the Global South to share information, strengthen their power, and fight against organized information attacks. Signing bilateral and multilateral agreements to share data, techniques, and experiences in identifying and controlling misinformation from Western media…” – journalist Nguyen Duc Loi emphasized one of the effective solutions.

It can be said that Southern Hemisphere countries must build a strong, independent press-media system that accurately reflects reality, contributing to breaking the dominance of Western information.
