After the ceremony of chanting Buddha's name to pray for blessings, saluting the national flag, the religious flag and a minute of compassionate meditation to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh, heroic Vietnamese mothers, heroic martyrs and monks, nuns and monks who have passed away through the ages, the entire congregation respectfully listened to the Buddha's birthday message - Buddhist year 2567 of the Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Council, Most Venerable Thich Tri Quang; Buddha's birthday speech of Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhan - Chairman of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

The message emphasized that this year on Buddha's birthday, Vietnamese Buddhists also respectfully commemorate the 60th anniversary of Bodhisattva Thich Quang Duc, the Dharma Master who immolated himself to fight for national peace. His flame of compassion and his immortal heart have the power to illuminate and awaken human conscience, dispel all hatred, and overcome all narrow-minded selfishness and extreme ideas. He is a shining symbol of the spirit of compassion, wisdom, and courage of a Bodhisattva in this world and the worldly spirit of Vietnamese Buddhism.
