Tan Bien - 65 years of formation and development

Not stopping there, the Party Committee, government and people of Tan Bien district are determined to build a district with comprehensive development, actively contributing to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in the current period.

New vitality in the heroic homeland

Tan Bien is a border district of Tay Ninh province, established on February 7, 1960. During the resistance war against the US to save the country, Tan Bien was the base of the Central Bureau - the brain of the Southern revolution for a long time until the day of national reunification.

This is also the base of the Military Commission - Regional Command; the main armed forces units of the Region, the province, the Southeast region... With a particularly important geopolitical position and being a revolutionary base, Tan Bien became the target of attacks by the American invaders and the puppet government with very fierce intensity and scale.

Tan Bien land and people have suffered so much pain, loss and sacrifice.

After April 30, 1975, the war was still fierce in the border districts of Tay Ninh province in general and Tan Bien in particular. The cruel regime of Pol Pot - Ieng Sary in Cambodia caused many acts of invasion, genocide, and brutal massacres...

They kidnapped and murdered people, robbed cattle, took people to the border area to produce, dig ditches, build dikes, and destroy forests. They burned down houses, herded people into lines and shot them en masse, killing them all. The army and people of Tan Bien fought bravely to protect the southwestern border of the Fatherland.

The war ended, the district embarked on reconstruction and development. With the unceasing efforts of the Party, government and people, Tan Bien district has achieved important achievements in all areas of economy, culture, society, national defense and security.

In the first years after the war ended, the economy was mainly agricultural production with the main crops being rice, cassava, peanuts and legumes; small-scale industry was mainly in the preliminary processing stage.

Today, agricultural production continues to play a leading role but has developed remarkably with the application of high technology and increasingly synchronous mechanization. The district has 494.87 hectares of crops meeting VietGAP standards. Fruit tree production areas are formed on a large scale.

Strong shift from small-scale livestock farming to large-scale, concentrated farms; livestock farming accounts for 31.7% of agricultural production value. Industry and handicrafts develop focusing on rubber processing, cassava, cashew processing, leather shoes, creating jobs for a large number of local workers.

Commerce and services are increasingly diverse. Coming to Tan Bien today, people can easily see the development. Along with the traditional market, there are also Bach Hoa Xanh, Dien May Xanh, spacious and modern supermarkets, meeting the shopping needs of the people.

Tan Bien has 2 international border gates (Xa Mat and Tan Nam), 1 national border gate (Chang Riec) and 1 secondary border gate (Tan Phu). Foreign trade activities and import and export of goods across the border are increasing in volume, contributing to promoting local development.

To facilitate economic sectors to access capital easily and conveniently, the credit and banking system has been invested in and expanded. The district currently has 12 bank branches and 1 people's credit fund.

In addition, the development of service types and diversification of service products - especially e-banking services - have created favorable conditions for businesses and people in conducting transactions.

People's lives are increasingly improving

In the past 10 years, implementing the National Target Program on new rural construction, the Party Committee, government and people of Tan Bien district have joined hands to build 9/9 communes to meet new rural standards, of which 3/9 communes have met advanced new rural standards.

Tan Bien town is getting closer to becoming a type IV urban area. In this term alone, the district has completed the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021-2025 with 262 projects that have brought great efficiency, meeting the needs of traffic connection, trade, agricultural products, accelerating economic and social development.

The Party Committee and district government constantly pay attention to building essential infrastructure such as the national power grid, roads, clean water, and information systems to every household.

Social culture continues to develop. Cultural houses, cultural institutions, children's playgrounds in Cultural - Sports and Community Learning Centers, cultural movements, physical education and sports develop, forming many clubs, such as: for the elderly, amateur music, reformed opera, poetry, old music, propaganda of revolutionary songs, martial arts and gifted classes.... Traditional cultural festivals of the Khmer ethnic group also contribute to enriching the local cultural identity. The spiritual life of the people is increasingly improved.

The district has 31/45 schools that meet national standards, with newly invested and spacious facilities, the quality of education and training is constantly improved; many emulation movements for good teaching and learning, and many good practices are applied, contributing to improving people's knowledge and developing education in the district.

In the work of taking care of people's health, the Party Committee and the government pay attention to investing in equipment and facilities for medical examination and treatment at the District Health Center and grassroots health stations. In particular, the coordination and combination of traditional medicine and modern medicine in the work of medical examination and treatment for people is increasingly effective.

Many social security policies, care for people's lives; population - family work; care for policy beneficiaries, meritorious families, poor children, lonely elderly people... have been well implemented, the current poverty rate is only 0.02%.

Comprehensive strong defense and security

The district pays special attention to national defense and security. The armed forces from the district to the commune are strong in all aspects, political security and social order and safety are maintained and stable. National target programs on drug crime prevention and control, child trafficking prevention and control, and social evils have been implemented with good results. The work of building the Party and the political system to improve the leadership capacity and fighting strength of the district Party Committee has a high level of unity in awareness and action.

A proud thing is that this heroic and resilient land is also the location of the Central Bureau of Southern Vietnam Relic Site, recognized by the State as a special national relic. This is a red address for educating traditions, revolutionary heroism, and arousing patriotism and national pride for generations - especially the young generation of the district. Every year, the relic site attracts thousands of domestic and international visitors to visit and travel.

In addition, in the district there is also the tomb of Quan Lon Tra Vong (Hamlet 3, Tra Vong Commune); The relic site of Chot Mat tower - determined to be built around the 8th century AD under the Oc-eo culture; Lo Go - Xa Mat National Park is a natural forest, a standard conservation area for the semi-humid forest ecosystem and the typical biodiversity of the transitional forest area between the Central Highlands, the Southeast and the Mekong Delta.

For 65 years, the Party Committee, government and people of Tan Bien have joined hands and overcome many difficulties; creatively focused on building and rebuilding the homeland to develop more comprehensively and sustainably.

This achievement is thanks to the leadership of the Party, the management and administration of the State; the efforts, determination and striving of the Party committees and local authorities, together with the companionship and unified support of all classes of people.

Believe that in the near future, Tan Bien district will develop rapidly. Tan Bien people will have a modern, developed and prosperous life.
