So, with the new tour, visitors will venture into the world of Hong Kong films and review classic filming locations. That is the alley where Maggie Cheung went to buy porridge with a canteen and met her ex-lover... in "In the Mood for Love", or the spectacular chase scene in "Infernal Affairs"...
According to HKTB, the product developer, the "Hong Kong Movie Tour: Sheung Wan" tour aims to diversify products to attract tourists.
This is a unique walking tour, led by a knowledgeable and passionate guide, taking visitors to explore the scenes from classic works, entering the memories of an entire generation.
For more than two hours, the tour group will walk through the many old streets and alleys of Sheung Wan, stopping at each "scene" of any movie. Unlike a regular tour, long-time film critics and movie fans will act as guides, through which the narration, the big screens gradually appear before their eyes. They are very real and close, leading visitors on an interesting journey.
Along the way, visitors can watch footage filmed at the locations they pass through, compare precious still images and enjoy anecdotes about famous stars both on screen and in real life.
In the first phase, the tour is designed for tourists to visit the filming locations of nearly 20 famous Hong Kong films, including "Infernal Affairs", "Yen Chi Khau", "Thief of Time", "In the Mood for Love"...
On the tour, visitors are also equipped with interactive links and small props, allowing everyone to feel like they are in a movie, reenacting classic scenes together and taking photos.
"We followed the tour guide into the alleys of Sheung Wan, and also entered a time tunnel, back to the era of the much-loved 'In the Mood for Love' of Hong Kong cinema," lalazoo418, a Quimper from France, shared after the trip.
On the HKTB website, Pei-Yu Hung, from Taiwan, also commented: "Not only does the tour explain the scenes in Hong Kong films, it also explains the plot for those who have never seen the film, playing simultaneously on a tablet, and explains why the filmmakers used such shooting techniques to create cinematic effects."
