Tourists watch day and night for cheap air tickets
On April 13, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien (Hanoi) said that on the occasion of the April 30 holiday this year, her group of close friends decided to travel and gather in Ho Chi Minh City. Despite having a lot of experience in hunting for airline tickets, since the beginning of April, Ms. Lien has not been able to book tickets at the desired low price.
Ms. Lien said: "I often buy tickets on the Vietnam Airlines app, cheaper than the agent by 50,000-100,000 VND/ticket. But this year's holiday, the ticket to Ho Chi Minh City is too expensive, I expected it but there was no way to buy it at a cheap price. This is a 50-year-old occasion, I bought a round-trip ticket from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City for more than 8 million VND".
Every two years, he flies from the US to Vietnam to visit his family. This year, Mr. Pham Van Thanh (45 years old) planned to take two Singaporean friends to Phu Quoc, then fly to Hanoi to go to Sa Pa. But with the attraction of the 30-4 holiday, Mr. Thanh invited his international friends to return to Ho Chi Minh City.
"The ticket price for the Phu Quoc - Ho Chi Minh City route surprised me a bit. It was 30% higher than my travel cost calculation," said Mr. Thanh.

Not only international visitors, domestic visitors from many places who want to come to Ho Chi Minh City to attend the festival are "scared" by the high ticket prices.
However, the event only happens once every 50 years, so many tourists accept high airfares to enjoy attractive tourism programs in the city on the occasion of April 30 this year.
Increase 20% flights on April 30
On April 13, Tuoi Tre Online recorded ticket prices to Ho Chi Minh City from flights. During the holidays in previous years, the Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route had much higher prices, this year in the opposite direction, ticket prices... are not smooth at all.
For example, according to Vietnam Airlines, a flexible economy seat costs nearly 3.8 million VND/way on April 29. In contrast, the same seat class and time but the flight from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City costs nearly 4 million VND/way.
Meanwhile, flights from Nha Trang, Da Lat, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Con Dao to Ho Chi Minh City on the same day, April 29, cost nearly 1.5 million VND/one-way ticket depending on the route.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority, during the April 30 and May 1 holidays, domestic airlines are expected to operate more than 7,500 flights, providing about 1.5 million seats, an average of 685 flights per day, an increase of more than 20% compared to normal days and the same period last year.
Of which, there are 5,083 trips to and from Ho Chi Minh City, an average of 462 trips per day with about 1.03 million seats, an increase of 21% compared to normal days.
Particularly for the route connecting Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City, airlines operated 1,261 flights, an increase of 8% compared to normal days and an increase of 16% compared to last year's holiday.
The number of flights increased as airlines added nearly 10 aircraft compared to the same period last year, bringing the total to nearly 200.
Currently, the booking rate has reached 70-80% on flights from Hanoi, local airports to Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa.
Airfare costs increase during holidays, businesses still expect increased revenue
According to a representative of a travel agency in District 5, Ho Chi Minh City, domestic tours in Ho Chi Minh City during the April 30 holiday are offered at reasonable prices, even equal to previous years, to stimulate tourism. However, businesses spend 10-20% more on airfare than during previous holidays.
"On the contrary, the number of customers buying tours has increased. Therefore, we expect revenue to be about 25-30% higher than before," he said.
