General Secretary: Continue to preserve and foster Vietnam-US relations

On the morning of December 1, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong received member of the Standing Committee of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) Central Committee and President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia Khuon Sudary.

National Assembly Chairman Khuon Sudary expressed his joy at visiting Vietnam, thanked General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong for receiving and showing his warm feelings towards the delegation, and respectfully conveyed the greetings of CPP President Hun Sen, Prime Minister Hun Manet and Cambodian leaders to the General Secretary.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong received President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia Khuon Sudary.

Ms. Khuon Sudary congratulated Vietnam on the important achievements it has gained in recent times, especially in Party building, socio-economic development, expanding foreign relations and international integration.

She believes that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the Vietnamese people will continue to gain many new and greater achievements, successfully implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

The Chairman of the Cambodian National Assembly highly appreciated and was extremely excited about the increasingly good development of the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship in all fields, for the benefit of the people of each country, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

She expressed her deep gratitude for the great and valuable support and assistance that Vietnam has given to Cambodia up to now; at the same time, she affirmed that Cambodia will, together with Vietnam, protect, preserve and foster the relationship between the two countries to develop to new heights and pass it on to future generations.

Ms. Khuon Sudary informed General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong of the main features of the recent situation in Cambodia, including the restructuring of the organization and personnel of the National Assembly and the Government for the new term as well as the results of the talks with National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue. She affirmed that Cambodia will continue to closely coordinate with Vietnam to effectively implement treaties, agreements and agreements between the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and the two countries.

The General Secretary affirmed that Vietnam always supports Cambodia's national construction and development.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong welcomed and highly appreciated the significance of the visit of President of the Cambodian National Assembly Khuon Sudary, which contributed to consolidating and creating a new mark in the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship; congratulated the achievements that Cambodia has made, especially the successful organization of the 7th National Assembly election, the great victory of the CPP, the establishment of a new National Assembly and Government, and the transfer of leadership generations.

These results demonstrate the people's support for the CPP, headed by President Hun Sen, which has led the Cambodian people to maintain political and social stability, develop the economy, ensure national defense and security, and expand foreign relations.

The General Secretary affirmed that Vietnam always supports Cambodia's national construction and development and believes that under the reign of King Norodom Sihamoni, the leadership of the Senate, the National Assembly, and the administration of the Government with the CPP as the core, the Cambodian people will continue to gain many new and greater achievements, successfully implementing the CPP's Political Platform for the 2023-2028 period and the goals set by the 7th Government.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed that the historical tradition of solidarity, closeness and mutual assistance between the two Parties, States and peoples is a valuable asset, a source of great and most important strength for the cause of national liberation as well as in the cause of national protection, construction and development.

The General Secretary emphasized that the two Parties have the same origin from the Indochinese Communist Party and are both comrades and brothers, so the two sides need to continue to preserve and nurture the Vietnam - Cambodia relationship to develop further.

The General Secretary expressed his delight at the increasingly deep and extensive cooperation between the two Parties, States, National Assemblies and peoples, which has achieved many great achievements, contributing significantly to maintaining political stability, ensuring national defense and security, developing the socio-economy and enhancing the international position of each country. The General Secretary also shared his close feelings and memories of Cambodia as well as with the leaders of the Cambodian Party and State.

The General Secretary suggested that both sides effectively implement the content of the Meeting between the two Parties' senior leaders and the Meeting between the three leaders of the three Parties of Vietnam - Cambodia - Laos in various fields, emphasizing that the two National Assemblies should strengthen cooperation, share information and experience in law-making, coordinate in supervising the implementation of treaties, agreements and arrangements signed between the two countries, and support each other at multilateral and international inter-parliamentary forums.

On this occasion, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong respectfully sent his warm regards to King Norodom Sihamoni, CPP President Hun Sen and Cambodian leaders.
