Saint Nguyen Minh Khong's real name is Nguyen Chi Thanh. According to legend, he was born on October 15, 1065, in Dam Xa Village - Trang An Prefecture - Son Nam Town, later changed to Gia Vien District, Ninh Binh Province; divided into two villages, Diem Xa and Diem Giang (now Gia Tien - Gia Thang Commune). Since childhood, he was famous for being intelligent, good at studying, practicing and achieving enlightenment, and becoming a famous Zen Master.

Later history books often called him Ly Quoc Su Nguyen Minh Khong, while the people honored him as Saint or Saint Nguyen.
This is an ancient temple in Diem village, ancient Trang An district (now Gia Tien and Gia Thang communes, Gia Vien district, Ninh Binh province). The temple worships Zen master Nguyen Minh Khong - National Master of the Ly dynasty. The temple was built on the foundation of an ancient pagoda named Vien Quang Tu, founded by Nguyen Minh Khong himself in 1121. In the fall of August 1941 (the second year of Dai Dinh), National Master Nguyen Minh Khong passed away at Tan Vien mountain - Ham Ly commune, Vinh Lai district, Hai Duong province. After his death, the people of Dam Xa, in memory of his merits, built a temple to worship Saint Nguyen.
