Before that, at around 6:00 p.m. the same day, a 7-seat car was traveling on National Highway 1 from Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Nai.

When the car had just passed the bridge about 100m (bordering Dong Nai and Binh Duong), the car suddenly turned left, broke a 30m long section of the railing, and then plunged straight into the river. The number of people on board is currently unknown.

The place where the car crashed was the gap between the old and new Dong Nai bridges, about 3m wide. According to local people, after falling into the river, the 7-seat car still floated and drifted downstream about 50m before sinking.

Professional divers as well as local people dived into the river to search many times but without results.
