(QBĐT) - Overcoming difficulties and challenges in input materials and fluctuations in the consumer market, Long Giang Thinh Consulting and Investment Joint Stock Company (TV-DT) (headquartered in Vinh Ninh commune, Quang Ninh) has been promoting production and business activities, aiming at export, creating momentum for growth, contributing to stabilizing income and life for workers.
Difficulties, barriers
As a company specializing in the production of cassava starch and cassava products with an average capacity of about 15,000 tons of products/year, Long Giang Thinh TV-DT Joint Stock Company needs about 300-400 tons of fresh cassava raw materials/day for production needs. To ensure raw materials for production activities, the company purchases fresh cassava from localities in Quang Ninh, Le Thuy, and Bo Trach districts. However, the source of raw materials purchased from localities in the province only meets part of the production needs of the unit.
According to Mr. Le Van Tho, Director of the company, the shortage of raw materials for production has been going on for many years, but there has been no complete solution. The main reason is that the scale of raw material areas in the province has not been expanded. Meanwhile, the company's purchasing is difficult due to competition with many enterprises and cassava starch production facilities in other provinces. To overcome the shortage of raw materials, the company has proactively connected and purchased fresh cassava in Laos.
“Fresh cassava imported from Laos has a high starch content, but it is difficult to ensure quality because of the long transportation distance and the time it takes to clear export customs, so by the time it reaches the company, the quality of the cassava has decreased. Many times, up to 1/3 of the imported cassava is damaged, which not only costs money, wastes raw materials, but also affects the company's production process,” Mr. Tho said.
Not only is it difficult to import raw materials, the company is also under a lot of pressure from the consumer market. Currently, the company's cassava starch products are mainly exported to the Chinese market, a part is imported to paper mills in Bac Ninh, the rest is distributed in the provincial market. The main dependence on the Chinese market causes the output of cassava starch production enterprises in general and Long Giang Thinh TV-DT JSC in particular to face many limitations, especially when the consumption of this market has decreased, causing high inventory levels, affecting the company's revenue and workers' income...
Efforts to overcome difficulties
Talking to us about the plan to implement the company's production and business goals for the 2025 crop year, Mr. Le Van Tho said: The company's leadership has proactively implemented many solutions to overcome difficulties in raw material sources, capital sources and export procedures... Along with promoting the search for stable raw material sources in Laos, the company mobilized staff and workers to focus on working effectively, improving labor productivity, and promptly purchasing raw cassava output in localities in the province. At the same time, it cooperated with a number of localities to implement an intensive cassava planting model with new varieties to resist diseases and increase crop yields, meeting the production requirements of the factory, harmonizing the interests of farmers and businesses.
In order to improve product quality, in addition to the existing machinery and equipment system, the company invested in purchasing some new machines and equipment; adding a water supply system for the root washing area to increase cleaning efficiency and ensure the quality of finished powder. On the other hand, flexibly adjusting the operation method to suit the actual conditions of raw materials and machinery, such as: Increasing the frequency of cleaning and separating the pulp, adding clean water at the latex separation and washing stages... and having solutions to preserve products after processing.
With quality raw materials and modern production processes meeting HACCP standards, ensuring food hygiene and safety, Long Giang banh loc flour stands out with its smoothness, transparency, and characteristic deliciousness, recognized as a 4-star OCOP product at the provincial level and honored as a typical rural industrial product at the national level, "Golden Brand of Vietnamese Agriculture". The product is highly appreciated by consumers for its stable quality, ease of use, contributing to promoting Quang Binh culinary culture to all regions. |
To cope with the difficult situation of product output, the company proactively seeks consumer markets to have financial resources to serve production, business and investment in developing raw material areas for the new processing season; diversifying products to sell to new markets, avoiding being passive and dependent on the Chinese market. Currently, in addition to the main product of cassava starch (tapioca flour), the residue (including 2 types of fresh residue and biologically fermented residue) is used by the company as animal feed to sell to livestock, poultry and fish farms; the production wastewater is used to make biogas to provide gas for drying the powder and the shell soil is mixed and composted to make a growing medium.
“Overcoming many difficulties and challenges, the company is gradually stabilizing, creating momentum for growth, contributing to improving income and living standards for 85 workers with salaries ranging from 7-15 million VND/month. In the 2024 crop year, the company produced 7,000 tons of flour. In the 2025 crop year, the company aims to produce 10,000 tons of flour. Up to now, although only half of the new crop year has passed, the company has produced nearly 7,000 tons, expected to exceed the set target. We are committed to continuing to improve product quality and bring the best value to consumers…”, Director of Long Giang Thinh TV-DT JSC Le Van Tho affirmed.
