DNVN - To promote the connection of import and export trade of agricultural, forestry and fishery products between Vietnam and China, localities and units need to continue negotiating, opening up and handling technical difficulties in agricultural, forestry and fishery products, maintaining the development of the agricultural, forestry and fishery market between the two countries to ensure quality and sustainability.
The message was emphasized by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam at the forum "Connecting import and export trade of agricultural, forestry and fishery products between Vietnam and China" on November 3 in Lang Son.
At the event, Mr. Le Thanh Hoa - Deputy Director of the Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) said that the total two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and China accounts for 1/4 of Vietnam's total import-export turnover with the world. In 2024, the total import-export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products between the two countries will reach 16 billion USD, of which exports from Vietnam will reach 12.2 billion USD, an increase of 11%.
China has licensed many typical Vietnamese products such as milk, bird's nest, farmed crocodiles and seafood, with 596 Vietnamese enterprises allowed to export seafood to this market. Items such as durian, jackfruit and dragon fruit continue to be popular with Chinese consumers. In Chongzuo city alone, Guangxi province, Vietnamese fruit imported through the border gate reached 710 thousand tons, of which durian accounted for 57.4% with 403 thousand tons, up 10.2% over the same period last year.
However, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam emphasized that, in addition to opportunities, import and export activities still face many challenges that need to be discussed and resolved. Technical regulations and export procedures are increasingly strict, while requirements for product standardization and regional competition are increasing. Many potential products such as grapefruit, avocado, and star apple have not been officially exported to the Chinese market.

Expand new products and add growing and breeding areas that meet export standards. Disseminate new import and export regulations in a timely manner, instruct businesses to standardize products and production processes. Link specialized growing areas with processing enterprises to improve product quality.

The Chinese representative, Mr. Chau Binh - Second-level Inspector of Chongzuo City, highly appreciated the promotion of cooperation between Chongzuo and Lang Son Province. Plans such as building smart border gates, operating 24/7 customs clearance and speeding up operations at key border gates such as Po Chai - Tan Thanh, Lung Vai - Coc Nam are targeted for implementation.
In addition, the development of the processing industry in the Chinese border area, with an expected production value exceeding 60 billion yuan this year, creates great opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises to supply agricultural, forestry and fishery products. Yiwu City (Zhejiang) also expects deeper cooperation to bring more Vietnamese products such as green bean cakes, coconut candy, and cashew nuts closer to Chinese consumers.
Vice Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee Luong Trong Quynh said that the province is committed to creating the most favorable conditions for import and export activities, building a transparent and civilized business environment. At the same time, the province will strengthen coordination with central and local agencies and the Chinese side to improve management efficiency and promote sustainable trade cooperation.
