According to the report of the representative of the Provincial Steering Committee for Combating IUU Fishing, Quang Binh currently has more than 3,900 fishing vessels of 6m or more, of which more than 1,170 are 15m or more; 291 are 12m-15m; more than 2,470 are 6m-12m. Up to now, 87.3% of fishing vessels in the province have been inspected; 97.9% of fishing vessels have been installed with voyage monitoring equipment; 100% of fishing vessels have completed marking and registration numbers...

Along with that, the inspection, control and handling of IUU fishing violations have also been carried out effectively, especially no fishing vessels illegally fishing in foreign waters have been arrested or handled, and fishing vessels that have crossed the permitted fishing waters without written approval have been punished; the situation of losing connection to VMS devices and crossing the border has decreased significantly.

However, the work to combat IUU fishing still has many limitations that need to be urgently overcome to prepare to welcome and work with the EC Inspection Delegation, such as the low rate of monitoring seafood output through ports; the situation of crossing maritime boundaries and losing VMS connection still occurs; the reliability of fishing logs is not guaranteed; the verification and handling of IUU fishing acts violating fishing logs and fishing in the wrong areas are still limited, and the registration and licensing of fishing have not been completed.
