Continue to exempt registration fees for electric cars until the end of February 2027

On March 1, the Government issued Decree No. 51/2025/ND-CP amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No. 10/2022/ND-CP dated January 15, 2022 of the Government regulating registration fees.


In particular, Decree No. 51/2025/ND-CP amends Point c, Clause 5, Article 8 of Decree No. 10/2022/ND-CP regulating the registration fee for battery-powered electric cars.

According to the new regulations, for battery-powered electric cars from March 1, 2025 to February 28, 2027, the first registration fee will continue to be paid at a rate of 0%.

According to the Ministry of Finance, in order to contribute to reducing environmental pollution from vehicle emissions; encourage businesses to invest in production, take advantage of supply opportunities and stimulate consumers to use battery-powered electric cars, the Government issued Decree No. 10/2022/ND-CP dated January 15, 2022.

In which, Point c, Clause 5, Article 8 of Decree No. 10/2022/ND-CP stipulates preferential registration fees for battery-powered electric cars as follows: within 3 years (from March 1, 2022 to March 1, 2025), pay the first registration fee at a rate of 0%; within the next 2 years, pay the first registration fee at a rate equal to 50% of the rate for gasoline and diesel cars with the same seats.
