Continue to control the market and supply well after Tet

According to Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, although the economy is still facing difficulties, this year's Tet, the city has prepared goods with a total value of up to 22,000 billion VND as planned, of which 8,500 billion VND is for market stabilization. Revenue and prices have not decreased compared to the same period last year.

According to Mr. Ngo Quang Trung, Director of the Department of Local Industry and Trade (Ministry of Industry and Trade), supermarkets and shopping malls have a very abundant supply of goods this year. Many supermarkets and convenience stores this year are open to serve people until the end of the 30th day of Tet and reopen soon after Tet, many places even operate throughout Tet... which has contributed to limiting people's psychology of stockpiling goods like in previous years.

Regarding the control of petroleum business activities, the representative of the General Department of Market Management reported that as of February 16, no cases of violations of speculation, hoarding, closure, or suspension of operations without justifiable reasons had been detected. Regarding ensuring the supply of petroleum, Mr. Tran Ngoc Nam, Deputy General Director of Petrolimex, said that Petrolimex had increased imports by 10% in January compared to the average minimum quota assigned and in just the first 10 days of February 2024, increased imports by 80,000m3 to prepare for increased demand after Tet, ready for strong market fluctuations.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien said that this conference was held right after the Prime Minister issued a directive to urge the implementation of key tasks after the 2024 Tet holiday, boosting production and business, supplying essential goods, especially electricity and gasoline. He requested localities to focus on supplying gasoline and electricity for production and daily life with the motto that in any situation, there will be no disruption in supply.

At the same time, it is recommended that ministries and branches focus on guiding and helping businesses closely follow market signals, effectively exploit FTA trade agreements, and effectively implement the Official Export Project that the Ministry of Industry and Trade has developed and the Prime Minister has approved. The General Department of Market Management needs to focus on fighting against counterfeit goods, not only in traditional channels but also in e-commerce channels.
