During US President Joe Biden's state visit to Vietnam in September 2023, the two countries officially upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace, Cooperation and Sustainable Development.
According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnam-US relations continue to develop positively. In 2024, high-level contacts and exchanges will continue to be promoted. Bilateral dialogue mechanisms will continue to be maintained and the two sides will also conduct new dialogue mechanisms for the first time.
Economy, trade and investment are bright spots in the relationship between the two countries. Bilateral trade turnover increases by an average of about 16% per year.
The two sides maintain regular exchanges to enhance cooperation and discuss prospects for expanding cooperation in new areas of interest to each side, including the semiconductor industry.
